Question on the 996 Carrera rear emblem

Why some have the black Carrera emblem, and others are silver? is it because of model year or was owner's perferences?

I have the black emblem (on black car) but I acutally perfered the silver emblem as it provide more contrast.

You are correct sir! The 996 C2 came with black emblem and the 996 C4 came with silver. They are pretty inexpensive so if you really want to change it to compliment your paint color, heat the existing one with a blow dryer and it will come off clean.

Ask Eric@bumperplugs.com. He is a board sponsor and can probably get you one. If not, he probably knows where to get one.

BTW: This reminds me of a funny incident. I was putting in gas one day and a girl walked up to me and said, "That's a really nice camera (she pronounced it like Camaro with an a)."

Think I will get myself a silver emblem....

BTW, I think this only applies for 996s, my buddy's 997 C2 has silver emblem.
