Fabspeed Bypass Question
Fabspeed Bypass Question
I have an 03 C4S and am interested in getting a little more growl out of C4S? I was considering Fabspeed's cold air intake kit and muffler bypass pipes, but was not sure if there were any problems/noises/issues anyone has experienced or heard of from these items. I'm not much of a gearhead, so I was planning on doing these mods myself in the garage, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
muffler bypass pipes removes the mufler entirly and is just a straight pipe out of the catalytic converter. You will pass emissions 100% since you arn't touching the cats. You will save a lot of dead weight..but your car will be just shy of supercup loud. It will be race-car loud and if u live in an area with old fart neighbors, they may not appreciate it and will complaine. Kids will love it, car guys will love it. I havn't been ticketed yet but that depends on your area and how agressivly your driving (if your hard on the gas you'll light up the neighborhood..if u feather it around, you'll be fine..if u see a cop..just feather it or throw it into neutral and roll by him).
Nope different, C4s has a different exit point than the C2. I was going to do the bypass pipes, but was told I can't reuse my tips. Since I have the nice factory quad ones, I'm skipping.
^ you can have a pipe shop make you the necessary pipe and then attach your quad pipes to them

^ shouldn't be difficult at all. I believe a rennlister went with some piping from a hardware store as a makeshift track setup.
The advantage of the fabspeeds is that they're pre-made and you get a new set of tips with em, but you should be able 2 do it yourself as well.
It comes down to a matter of effort vs. the ready to go solution i guess.

Try the pep-boys cheap way. Already made 90 degree elbows that fit. All you need is a tip. Its the cheap way of TESTING this out. I don't recommend keeping them on, as you should purchase the fabspeed bypass pipes if you wish to keep them on.
They were OK for me. Just not tuned enough so I went back to stock.

I had to cut the pipes anyways. I believe the C4 should be a longer distance so you won't have to cut as much as a C2.
If any Bay Area people want to try the pep-boys out, let me know. I have a pair for a C2 just sitting around and I might toss them. Already pre-cut and fitted.... ready to go.
