Got my AP Exhaust Today

I think i made a mistake before i installed this thing....

A few days before the new exhaust was coming i decided to take the old exhaust off and inspect everything. Well...i also decided to take the car for a quick ride w/ no exhaust just for kicks...and kicks i had. That thing sounded awesome!!! the power sucked and it was "slightly" too loud...but it sounded MEAN!

So today i installed the new AP exhaust and did some tooling around, probably put on about ~50 miles of crusing. The first thing i will say is that the power increase was definatly noticable! my old mufflers (w/ 75k miles) must have had some major restriction issues, because my car felt much faster! I was however somewhat dissapointed with the sound. I was trying to think of a good word to describe what it sounds like and i came up with "farty."

basically the car is louder now and burps more, but it still doesn't have that "throaty" powerful mean sound i was looking for. I'm not decidedly unhappy with the exhaust, i just expected a little more...

Dan from vivid offered me the option to send it back and try something a little different. But now im stuck with no idea which manufacturer to look into....

Hopefully my fellow 6speeders can help

Also, it may be possible that i have unreal expectations...if thats the case please tell me to shut up and enjoy my new toy

Why don't you give A.W.E Tuning a try? Their exhausts for 997's and 3.4L caymans sound awesome...

I have the fabspeed maxflow with the ap headers, good combo, removed some the the drone so I can actually have a conversation. Isnt as loud as it used to be, but very throaty and deep!

I'm going to be testing out the 996 version of that system on our car shortly so I'll let you guys know in full Otherwise for the 996 a good combo has been either the cargraphic headers and the Tubi muffler. It's not cheap though.

It fit perfect, made HP, and has the non drony or corvette sound we talked about. Seems perfect to me. Put some of the AP headers on it! Actually the longer you have it and drive around with it the mufflers sound better, give it 1000 miles and they will be louder.

If you want the sound you had with no exhaust, you will not get that with any mufflers. If you want to send them back to me, you will have credit for a different system, just call me to discuss. I would leave them on and enjoy a system that works!

Not to ruffle any feathers here, but isn't the AP exhaust the same thing as the Fabspeed and Schnell exhausts? I was under the impression that all three of these exhausts came from Taiwan from the same factory.

Ours is definitely different then Schnell, and Fabspeed. Different sound, different build, all different. Alot of stuff is made overseas, but the initial systems can be designed and prototyped here and sent there.

When you say "ours" are you referring to Agency Power?

Silly me. My mistake. I see where the confusion is. For the record, I do believe that Agency Power makes great products and I, for one, probably need to order one. Although your response makes more sense now when I see that Vivid Racing and Agency Power share the same address.
