exhaust modifications

I just bought my first porsche (2002 carrera cab CPO). I love the car, but want more power and throatier sound. I read that just swapping to sports mufflers alone will give you the best bang for the bucks (+10hp). I also read that changing the headers will void my warranty. If I were to look to swap mufflers, which would you recommend. I read about the Agency, Ztek and Fabspeed.

Not cheap, but the GruppeM exhaust is the best sounding IMO

I have a B&B exhaust. It is a bit tame for me. I've never heard anything negative about Fabspeed, so that may be the route to go. Don't expect too much of a gain, though. The Suncoast headers seem to be pretty popular. They will probably be my next purchase.

Stay away from ZTek - poor quality and horrible customer service. Fabspeed and GHL are reasonably priced and have good quality.

I want to thank those that have responsed-I did have some doubts about ztek bacause of its low price and their unrealistic claims. I think I'll look into Fabspeed. Can anyone comment on the cost benefit of installing headers too? I'm don't want to void my warranty and if the benefits are--marginal performance, I'd rather pass, but would like your opinions.

Thanks.

If you're really looking for performance, call GMG, they're currently working with Porsche Motorsports NA on a system and it should be done soon.

I've had them work on my car and they do a great job - plus they race (successfully) so they know what they're talking about...

Actually, most on this board believe that swapping an exhaust will give you a greater sound, but minimal hp gain. Most of the gain will come from intake, mufflers, and a ECU flash to take advantage of the two.

I second that, you need all three to actually notice something... at the very least you'll gain better response and a great sound!
