Looking at an 02..What should I Pay and Look For?

I have been waiting to step it up for a while to get a p-car

I have found 2 2002's, one with 38k and the other 45k.

I have been negotiating on both of the cars and got them down to 37-38k, is this a good price?

What should I look for or be concerned about?

What problems do 02's have?

Thanks,
Geoff

I paid 47K for my 02 a year ago with 27K mi on it. Six speed, pretty well optioned. Great car. No RMS issues. Did have to replace the alternator, expantion tank and ignition switch. Small price to pay to drive such an awesome car!!

Ditto that........if it's from dealer ask for CPO......or revised price if it was CPO'd.
The price is great...........I'll assume they are straight coups, not C4 or cab.

With no warranty, you could be fine.......and you coud be fine through 100,000 miles.
Then again......you could need an engine......so set aside $10K or so just in case

It's all about the options. Make sure that you know what options are important to you and that the car has those options. Some can be added later, like PSE, some can't, like PSM.

$38K is a awesome price...I think wholesale values for a above average 02 at Manhiem was $45K...but that was 2 months ago. Since it's so cold out maybe prices went a bit lower.

go for it wilbur! I moved up from a heavily modified b6 A4 and am addicted to the speed, power and handling! $35-40k is a tempting price to make a move up from my '99!

I just bought an 03 Targa with 18K miles and paid 55 for it. It seems nicely dressed inside.

*thread jack*

I have had my 03 toy less than a week now and it DID come with PSM. What other options can be added after the sale?

For $200, you can start with a B&M short shift kit. Best bang for the buck. After that you can add things like Porsche Sport Exhaust $1,500-$2,000 and then possibly a suspension upgrade - PSS9's or the Porsche X74 Sport Suspension - $3K-$4K. It never ends.......
