Good mechanic/shop on Long Island??

Can anyone suggest an experienced and good mechanic to work on my '02 C4Cab? Looking to do some mods, nothing crazy right now (shifter, exhaust, etc..). Used to take it to South Shore Porsche for everything, but assume there are other experienced shops out there when warranty isn't an issue.

Oh, I live on the south shore (Long Beach), so the closer to there, the better!

Thanks,

Vito

Are you looking for a private shop or recommendation on another dealer? Also are you a PCA member?

Try Rudtner's European Auto in Freeport (real close to South Shore) 516-678-8769. There are quite a few independents on LI. Porsche Post a PCA chapter usually has adv. from most.

I think Rudtner's is no longer in business.... That shop has now been taken over by an import tuning company...

Vito, I strongly recommend Autosport Designs in Huntington Beach. Check out their website and you will see why. www.autosportdesigns.com. Ask for Antoinne, he runs the shop. Tom and Barry are the owners. They are a great team with many years of Porsche experience.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm sure these shops can install a Fabspeed exhaust for under $600. My Porsche dealer told me it would be $500-$600 to install them. When I insisted I'd read it should only take an hour or two, he said, "Well, it could be less than $500, drop it off in the morning, and we'll take a look." I told him no thanks....

Justin: Funny, I was planning on going to the Milleridge Inn for that new member meeting for the NY PCA and joining a month ago, but my car audio shop had my car for 10 days installing my system. They promised it would be done by the meeting date, but I was there until about 8pm that day AND it started to snow pretty bad that night anyway. So....haven't joined yet, but plan to this week. I assume it's a good thing to join....yes?

Definitely Rudtner's in Freeport. Take a ride and check out his shop - you'll be convinced when you see the facility and the cars that are there.
