Anyone running Mich. PS Rib or Brid. RE-01R?
Anyone running Mich. PS Rib or Brid. RE-01R?
After penny test, I'm at 1/32" or less on hot weather street tires and need to reskin. Removing worn Pirelli PZero Rosso and from reading overwhelming number of reviews, it seems I should select one of either:
A. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, or
B. Michelin Pilot Sport Rib (Porsche OE N1)
I don't see many Pcar reviews of the Michelin Pilot Sport Rib as yet...also curious for any feedback on the fairly new Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R. Is anyone running the Sport Ribs or the RE-01R? I would appreciate anyone's experience with these.

Damon at Tirerack sorted me out...went with the dual compound tech on PS2 - F1 derived technology sounds good to me. Interestingly he suggested the new Bridgestone RE-01R is also in the same class. Would still be interested in anyone who has experienced this tire. No doubt I will going through this exercise again in a year or so!

Thanks for replies to lonely thread -lol!
After reading skid pad test results of Michelin Pilot Cup Sports and Pirelli Corsa, and before speaking with Damon, I was ready to go with 3-4 months of street driving Nirvana with an R-compound tire and have TireRack Heat Cycle. I was dissuaded when I learned that they would get so gluey that they would gather up road debris like fly paper - cigarette butts, gravel, marbles etc. It sounds more dangerous to be running on sticky R tires covered with ballbearings than regular street tires; alas those are too far down the performance continuum for my driving route.
I appreciate the thoughts on Bridgestone RE-01R's and am interested in others. With Michelin out of F1 once again, and Bridgestone the only game in town, it will be interesting to see if there is much R&D that carries over to street tire lines in the absence of competition.
PC4 - what are you running now?

I'm not sure if they are offered in our size, I haven't looked, but on other cars I have been really happy with the Potenza RE 050. they have a tread wear of 140 and remind me a lot of the S-02's (also 140) with a little longer life.

I drove my R Comps on the highway to heat cycle them when I first got them (V710's on my old car). It was entertaining.
