Facelift

Probably a stupid question but I am fairly new to this site. What is a Facelift? I have a 2003 Cab.I am wondering if it means changing the two front fenders, lights and front bumper,to make it resemble a 997. Am I right?

Im not sure if the 996 to 997 facelift is as simple as the 99 to 02 facelift. I don't think the OEM panels just bolt up like they did on that facelift. You need to go with an aftermarket setup.

There is this setup:
http://www.jacquemond.com/english2.htm

Hamann aslo makes one:
http://www.topspeed.com/cars/hamann/...ok-ar8686.html

There are some others I have seen in mags.

Does anyone know for sure that the OEM dont fit, im like 90%.

996-997 facelift is some serious body work, I read from GT posrche that a man in the UK spent 10Klbs, thats around $20k. You can prob sell your cab and get a used one for around that price... the 997 is a sweet lookin car.
To answer your question, a facelfift around here usually means the 99 to 02 look. Not to many are doing the 996 to 997.

Thanks for the info. $20k is way too expensive for the results, the 996 lights do look a little strange though but I guess I can live with them. The rest of the car is terrific.

I think those lights are the best features of the 996. Porsche was def trying to change the "old 911" lights, but people yelled to much... I like the lights, even so more now especially that they went back to the "old 911" look. This will def make 996 standout from other 911's.

Typically facelift refers to early 996's (99-2001) being updated to look like the later 996's (02-04).
TT's came with the later look from day one.

Cheers,

Don't do it!
If anything throw on a 996 TT or Gt3 nose and it will look great!

I agree that you should keep what your have. The 02 headlights are nice and still "look" new.

But if you would like to I found this less expensive option:Its about $2300 plus whatever shipping from the netherlands would be.

I would assume there would be some custom brackets and stuff needed to fit it.

http://www.v-zweeden.com/product_inf...roducts_id=466

You would still need to purchase the headlights though. But I would think you would get quite a bit for all your stock parts as many others want to update to the 02 look from the 99's and that would offset your price quite a bit.

I kinda like that. With the 997S wheels I have I bet it would look sweet. Maybe some lowering springs and I would have a slower 997.

I wish someone would also aoffer the 997 REAR conversion. I think a 996 front with a 997 S rear would look hot.

Total kit is about 8k on ebay right now.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Porsche-911-996-...QQcmdZViewItem

There is a company that offers a "quasi" 997 rear end conversion. Its from a company called Jacquemond. Here are a few pictures of how it looks. It is quite pricey though. Last time I looked into it it was about 4-5kjust for the rear section, then you still have to have it painted and installed. The rear needs to be all molded up and is pretty extensive body work, I mean its not a bolt on. Thats why I decided to go with the GT3RSR wide flares, they were much more economical. The price on the parts was much less and the body work a little less to.
