Bi-Xenon lights not really Bi, just Low beams?

If you get the Xenon Headlamp Package, listed as P74 on Porsche's car configurator for $1090, are the lights supposed to be both xenon white/blue for low beam AND high beam?

I'm wonderinng because I supposedly have this upgrade but when I turn on my lights, the low beam is xenon blue/white, but high beams turn on the lower bulbs with regular yellow light.

Porsche's description of this package is Bi-Xenon with headlamp washers. Doesn't Bi-Xenon mean both low and high beams are xenon blue/white light?

i think the high beam is xenon just with different bulb... due to the safety of oppisite traffic.

The manual says that Bi-Xenon supposedly uses a single bulb for both High and Low beams.

I can actually see a different little bulb for the high beams, and the color is a normal yellow.

Anyone have the Bi-Xenon package? What color is your high beam, and do you have a single bulb, or top (Low beam), bottom (high beam) blubs?

I have the Bi-Xenon option - detail as follows.

Low Beam - Xenon lamp which has a shutter in its optics to only allow for a low beam type spread of light.

High Beam - The same Xenon lamp but the shutter moves out of the lamp's way to allow for the full pattern of light to be emitted. Note that the Xenon lamps do not move at all...it's a shutter which defines low or high beam operation.

In addition to the xenon lamp...a normal H1 globe is also illuminated (at the bottom of the lamp housing) in high beam mode to allow for some fill in light (BI-Xenon). The H1 lamp could be replaced for a whiter type look with a higher colour temperature H1 Halogen lamp if required.
Note that about 85% of the high beam light is actually from the Xenon lamp and not from the smaller H1 halogen globe - this only performs a fill-in function. Switch off your lights and just toggle your highbeam flash function on so that only the H1 globes are lit and you will see that not much light is produced compared to the Xenon lamps.

The H1 lamps are also used to flash on-coming traffic etc when the lights are switched off, as a normal Xenon lamp would not be able to perform the flash function if initially switched off. Switch on time to full brightness takes 20 secs or so for a Xenon Arc Globe.

thank you so much, that was exactly the answer I needed (and wanted to hear).

I'll keep the H1 lower light - didn't even think about the functional use it has to flash lights when in off position.

now just one more paranoia to be resolved.

Here is a video of how the shutter moves in the projector and how it works. Some car companies just use the halogen lights as a flasher and some like Porsche, BMW, Audi, some MB's, and VW use is along with the Xenon high beam for more light. Hella Bi-Xenon Video

The H11 high beam adds a lot to the high beam strength. The xenon high beams seem weak when the H11 bulb is blocked off. (I checked mine when I adjusted the lights)
