RMS found during 45k service any reason to NOT fix it?
SubscribeOK, Stupid question. I just had my 45k (48k on 2003 cab) service done and the dealer is offering to fix it under warranty. I haven't noticed any signs of RMS (leaks, drips, etc.). I'm just paranoid that if it doesn't really need to be replaced and the dealer is just looking to get money from Porsche that I might be opening myself up for future issues and I will have to pay for those out of pocket.(Warranty ends at 50k)

If it's under warranty why not get it fixed? The lastest and greatest seal is proving to be very reliable so chances are you won't have another leak after this. Had mine done around 32K (under warranty) and they also changed the IMS. The service manager said that they aren't seeing any come back with the new 997 seals. Just my .02.
Actually, it is not a stupid question at all. The RMS repair is a big job. The RMS fix doesn't always work, even with the GT3 part. Confirm with the dealer that you actually have the leak first. If not, and Porsche mechanics will back me up on this, don't do it.
You have 2000 miles of warranty remaining, do it and have them install a clutch while their in there!!!!

Good advice on the clutch; if they tell you it's at less than 50%, replace it for cost of parts alone since the clutch and flywheel have to come off anyway to fix your seal.

Speaking to some owners locally, I think the dealer is reputable and is not just looking to bill PCNA for the work and I will get the repair done.
BTW: What should I expect to pay for a Clutch while they are doing the RMS?

Plus, if it leaks again, after the repairs are done and after the warranty runs out, you have better chances at gaining help from Porsche if its needed to be done again.
