Good luck.
I read that there were 2 or 3 different alignment tools; each made from different color plastic. How do you know which one is correct?

Mine was the same way.
Carefully pop the aluminmum part of the shift **** off (the part that has the 6 speed diagram on it) gently pop it off with a screw driver, then wiggle the rest of the **** (leather part) off of the shifter Patience with this, and it will wiggle off, lifting upwards.

Done and done! 2 hours, $200. and simply a terriffic mod! Amazing shifting feel and function, the way i'm sure it was meant to be. If you dont have one, get one, you wont regret it.
Thanks for all your advice and thank you Eric from Bumper Plugs.

The directions were great, remember to mark the rods with nail polish or touch up paint. I took my shifter **** off after I removed the entire housing. A screwdriver pry and pull from both ends.

Was the shifter **** removal accomplished by yourself? I can't get the f#@#Kng thing off. Any other tips? Only thing keeping me from going for a test drive.
