Supercharger in 996
Hey hows it going everyone...........my brother has a 2004 996 cab... He is thinking about installing a Supercharger with RPM Racing out in Long Island NY..........has anyone had experience with this shop? also are there any do's and donts when it comes to installing a SC on this car and also dealing with RPM.......will i need to build up the motor to make serious power ect...? Thanks for your help in advance.
well take a look at the other threads, there is a EVO SC group buy on at the moment, and they would only suggest RPM to do the install in that area, do some research, the evo kit is making some serious power! i wish i could get in on the group buy!
good luck,

rpm just did nyseal's car. they apparently did a very good job. don't go to a shop that hasn't done one of these before. you'll be in for headaches.
i'm not sure what you mean by building the motor up to make serious power. if you want more power than what the SC has to offer, you might consider selling the NA car and getting a TT. it's very cost prohibitive to crack that 996 motor open and start doing engine work.

RPM seems to be a highly regarded shop and in terms of supercharging, there isn't a need to build the motor unless you plan on running a ton of high boost. In that case, I don't even know where you'd start since the people who have done SC, usually run it straight out the box...
RPM is a good shop, but resale wise I'd think long and hard about the sc. Mechanically they work great, esp the evo. Personally I'd get a TT, 15k would be a nice dp on a TT, new or old.....that plus a trade in....TT time!
Thank you guys for the feedback.........I'm not to worried about the reslae value of the car.... once you go that far on a car of this nature you tend to keep it in your stable for a good while. My concern was that once you commit to a shop that they are going to be by your side to help you over the bumps you might encounter when going FI. It seems as if they hold a good reputation and thats what i need to know.............I went FI on my 350Z and ended up in a bad situation with the shop who was doing my work which made the car unenjoyable and now I am ready to sell it because i simply couldnt find some where local to take over the work. I dont want the same thing to happen for no reason..... Thanks

bottom line... RPM is a great shop to have a long term relationship with, they hooked me up in many ways (financially speaking) and has went out of their way to make the NA/SC conversion as painless as possible. I have heard of noone else in the tri/state area with the amount of SC installation as they have...anyone else out there (please chime in)? Im sure there's a SC installation in their shop as we speak.
I am not in any way affiliated with these guys just stating my experiences with them... GL with the SC it rocks and your gonna love it.

Usually the indi shop is the way I would go. However, I think I would look long and hard at a late model TT at the same time as the SC option. Power is easy ($) to add to a factory turbo . When I sell my GT3 I'm going with a modded turbo-if I sell my GT3. Just my 2 cents.

I have a strong relationship with RPM Racing throughout the past years and they have built up my major projects and HOOKED me up, they are like family and treat all customers like that, goodluck with the SC install, RPM is even more on point with their certified Porsche tech who is there now!
