Exclamation tire blowout at the LA Meet

For those of you who saw this already: apologies. For the others... MY name is Geoff and I own a 996 TT. Drove down from Santa Barbara to Crystal Cove. We had a great time meeting many of you and checking out the sweet rides. Basically, after the run started, we (wife sitting shotgun ) led the second pack. Since I had only had 140 miles to travel TO THE RUN, I was extra ready to show some Porsche power and open up a can of whip-*** on those F-car lovers (I actually love those cars, mine's just faster . Maybe too fast for my own good, We hit the canyons really good but toward Chapman ave I was loose in the worst way. Two P-car buds came to let me know (Thanks, guys ).

Stuck between a 76 station and Gooyear I did the only reasonable thing: I changed the tire with my best DIY face and said, "Hunny, we're not all that far from wheel enhancement!?!" After the negotiations, we were give 3 acceptable choices: HRE 840R full polish, SSR GT3, and Kinesis F11o. My wife is a real trip, She wanted to go cheep so SSR GT3 was the deal. Then John says, you know ma'am, these Kinesis wheels are 7# each lighter than the others. Well, all of a sudden my wife was very interested in unsprung weight. I still can not understand how I got the F110s but I am not compaining.

We had a scary deal with those triple digit runs and We thank God that the tire didn't let go in the corners otherwise...?

Anyway, today we called Tom at Lucent, who hadn't had much of a day on the run with two tickets , and by the time we got off the phone at least feeling much better. Tom suggested that installing a pss9 setup, I could optimize my handling despite the larger wheel. Well, today the missus green-lighted the upgrade and we spent the day in West LA.

I can only say one thing about Tom and Arling: these guys are real hobbiest and the care I received was awesome. I met Ken today to and spoke with Rodis also, and wanted to express my thanks for your interest and care with the whole blow-out thing.

Pics are in the works. Arling was gonna try to get some up with the upgrade

Geoff,
the car looks sick man. Love the choice in wheels and suspension. Glad you made it thru the canyon run safely. I wish a flat for me meant new dope wheels. I know after you parked the car in the garage when you got back to Santa Barbara you kept on staring at it. Prob came out to the garage a couple of times later just to look at it again. Congrats again. You must post more pics now.

Arling, thanks for the pics. we had a GREAT ride back to Santa Barbara. Smooth as silk and almost as dangerous as a prom queen's thighs.

Larry, it was great meeting you, and thanks for the hookup. I really look forward to the next meet.

Ron, You're the man. If you hadn't organized this crazy run, I'd still be pushing stock suspension and rubber. Have 5 rolls of film to develop today and will try and get some more pics online but may some help (computer challenged).

All, I can say now, is that if you're thinking about an exhaust system, stay far away from both ron and arling or you'll be back to Lucent for the system in a New York second. Thats whats on tap for me .

Geoff,
Those Kinesis F110 wheels look great on your car. I don't see those on their web site, is it a new product? Is it available in 18" ?

Lucky Lucky Lucky.....

Geoff,

Dude I'm stoked that Tuuner and I saw the flat, it's so hard to tell on the low profiles when they're flat. Glad we could help!! In the end you made out like a bandit! By the way, does your wife have a sister? Man, you're the luckiest guy I know! A pimped out TT with a P-Car lover wife to boot!!

Rob

Great choice...I love those kinesis wheels! I saw them when they first were introduced at the SEMA show last year, and I wanted a set for myself. Unfortunately they don't make them for the C2's yet. Sweet setup.
