"N-Spec" Tires

I noticed on Tirerack's website that there are N-spec tires (which are tires that Porsche approved for use with their vehicles). Tires that are approved bear the "N spec" logo on the sidewall... My question is how important is it to use N-spec tires (so that Porsche wouldnt give me crap about it)?
I noticed that many of the excellent tires such as the PS2s are not N-spec. Could there be problems down the road that Porsche could blame on the tires?
THANKS!
