The only two I know of are the AASCO and FVD units. I suspect the FVD one is a rebadged AASCO.

By the way, the flywheel is the same in the 3.4 and 3.6 engines. (even the 3.6 997's, and some Boxsters)

I have an AASCO. They all chatter noticeably while in neutral when the clutch is released.

Just installed mine and was meaning to write a review!

I got teh Aasco flywheel wiht the sachs racing clutch. It still uses the stock pressure plate so I left that alone.

I love it!!!!!!!!!!! Drivability has improved. Pulls much harder and of course revs faster. Feels like it has given me the extra edge to put a jump on the competition. Not too mention the weight savings! The car has become an absolute blast to drive.

Shifting is also greatly improved with that and the RS motor mounts. I totally recommend both.

My only gripe is that in 6th gear at very low RPMs you will hear lots of driveline noise. Thats really the only time. Maybe its because I have muffler bypass pipes that I dont notice!??!?!

Also anyone changing the motor mounts to the RS ones will experience a pretty harsh vibration around 2K RPM. Dosent really bother me but something to think about

+1, have the FVD unit in a 99 3.4 and completely happy with the results. Sure there is chatter when lugging around at 2k or at a light but all around driveability is great. I needed a flywheel anyway so I have no regrets on upgrading at the same time.

BTW: The ones for the 3.4 and the 3.6 are not compatible. One unit uses 8 bolts the other 9.

Oh forgot to thank Gert at Carnewal for the mounts! Awesome customer support. Very easy to work with! I got the Clutch and flywheel from Powertech in NJ. Awesome service and prices from both!!!!

It sounds like the FVD kit is the way to go when my clutch is spent. How bad is the chatter at stop lights? ie. will it give cause for the babes and ricers to laugh and point? I assume when the clutch is depressed there is no noise?

Look at GMG's lightweight flywheel/sachs clutch package...Their kit is top notch and has NO CHATTER....guaranteed....it also used a better clutch to deal with the flywheel spinning up and down faster...the stock clutch will wear faster because of this...If I go with one, it will be the GMG package.

I still havent noticed any chatter? Just more interior driveline noise really. Car operates flawlessly. I used the aasco kit and it is perfect! Probably the same piece.

I just purchased the EVO stage II clutch and lt weight flywheel from a fellow speeder but have not installed it yet. I can post my opinion after I install it. I am looking forward to the quicker revs...esp since I have a heavy a$$ cab!

Wrong, this was discussed in another thread. The factory 996 3.4 and 3.6 flywheel is the same. Only the 3.6 GT2/GT3/Turbo flywheel is 9 bolts.

Really. Please reference this thread on rennlist:

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...light=flywheel

Then contact "every vendor" and inform them that they are wrong.
