PSE mod feedback

so i had PSE mod done a couple of weeks ago on my 3.6L cans using 2.25 pipe. after a few weeks of driving, here is what i think: considering i only drove a car with a real PSE once while shopping for a 996, it is hard for me to compare as it was over a year ago. but from what i remember, it is not close in terms of loudness. i would say that if basic exhaust is 1 and true PSE is 10, this is probably a 6.5-7 --- but that is actually good in my case since a) i dont want to wake up neighbors and b) in a convertible i probably dont want it to be too loud.

so if you are in a coupe and want loud, PSE mod is not for you. if you are an old fart like me who doesnt like attention and wants to play nice with the neighbors, PSE mod is definitely a way to go.

Your age on the board says 30 which is not old by any means.

Did you just do the hack job connection? How much did it cost if I may ask?

You think 30 makes you an old fart? OMG! I should be ready to kick any minute then.

hehe... i guess its all relative. i just know that if this was me 10 years ago, i'd be installing the most loud and obnoxious exhaust system i could get

porschenut: i am not sure what it cost since the shop also did header swap while "in there" so i paid for everything together.

i am gonna try this mod on my stock 997 mufflers, is the consensus that 2.25" is the best diameter to go with?

bigger diameter -> more loud
having said that, i think 2.25 is the biggest diameter you can go with.

PSE sounds different @ cold start than when warmed up. Maybe the car you test drove was louder because it was @ cold start?

PSE can never be TOO loud because it's a factory option. Gotta be 50 state legal. Could it be that you heard the sound once on your test drive, then anticipated owning it so much that it did not live up to your built-up expectations? Much like having sex with the hot chick at the bar, it'll never be as exciting as the first time.
