I too wanted to mount the climate controls where the CD holder is and keep a slot for my phone and wallet but there just wasnt a way to do it without extreme modification. I have an extra lower console and AC display now so I am going to try and fabricate something. I have only seen one person with AC in the upper lower slot. BTW The kenwood will come with ABS Trim Frame...

The 7019 also has a USB port. I can hook up an external HD or my 4GB flash drive(which i prefer) directly to the unit. I ran the USB port down and behind the batwing. I can extend it to wherever I need. I bought the Kenwood new for ~650 on ebay

Keith- did you try hooking up an external hard drive yet? I just tried hooking up two different 2.5" hard drives (usb powered) and they did not work. There is not enough bus voltage on the USB line to run a full hard drive, only enough to either charge an ipod or power a flash drive.

I'm working on modding up a USB 'power injector'- If I get it to work I'll post pics / DIY...

I didnt hook up my true external drive but i hooked up my 4gb portable drive and it reads it no problem...

I wouldnt suggest running any external drive that relies strictly on USB power. I would suggest hard wiring an external enclosure underneath the dash or somewhere from an enclosure that has it's own power supply...

That or just use a smaller, less consuming drive. 4GB is more than enough. I dont even see the poitn in using a USB HDD because it takes so long to navigate it.

I suggest just using DVD and using the method to burn from my other post.

yeah- I'm going to try that out as well and thanks for posting the DVD method.
I'm more interested in using the HDD for storing large ripped divx movies.
I could store a helluvalot of music vids and full-length movies

I am modding up a usb "Y" cable to accomodate 12v from the car, convert it to 500ma and feed it to the HDD through the USB. I want to use a 2.5" HDD since it is small, one connection and can be easily hidden.

I'll post pics if it's a reasonably easy mod.

agreed!!! Hell when I'm driving around town I just love listening to the engine and the new KN intake.

The movies or "in car entertainment" are for my other half- The more she is entertained, the less she's giving me crap about my "spirited" driving... and the longer I get to drive...

You see, there is a method to my madness...
