Chip upgrade for plenum?

If adding the RSS plenum is increasing flow, wouldn't this be a parameter that a software upgrade could maximize? Are the chip guys working on it?

Intake+Plenum+Headers+exhaust+the chip that ties it all together=?HP

Any mod that increases flow is all good!!! Youl get an extra 100 rpm before the cut off on the top end also.

Without a chip, the plenum should trick the ECU into thinking it is closer to sea level than it is because of the higher airflow and density. The chip would tweek the values even more at the expense of emissons. It does also raise the redline and remap the throttle (which is the best reason to do it)

Very interesting. Does pushing it the extra rpm run the risk of blowing the motor? Im not really that concerned but my car sees redline very often(on a daily basis)

John:
GIAC has a program written especially for a 996 with an EVOMS CAI, this will take advantage of the additional flow from your plenum.
ZemDogg:
My rev's climb so fast I hit cutoff in just about every gear every time I drive, and I've had 20,000 miles of trouble free driving.

not for the 99 MY they don't.... running a 99 MY carrera with GIAC and EVOMS will make your car slower....

it does work for other years however... especially the 3.6 cars...

that is not good.....my 99 runs better with EVOMS and plenum than stock. I considered a sw flash but I do not see much benefit to it. Seeing you tried the GIAC and lost performance.....thanks for saving me money.

no David... that's not what I'm saying.... I had the GIAC FLASH + EVOMS and the culprit here was the EVOMS cold air kit... when I went back to my K&N panel filter and stock housing the car ran much better... the GIAC flash is a worth while upgrade that is for sure... especially on a 99.... and the plenum has had tons of +ve feedback..... but the EVOMS cold air kit... no way; not on my car.

get the GIAC Flash.. and get rid of your EVOMS.
