Fantastic install! it will be my guide!

Great job! I will execute exactly the same project this coming weekend. I'm also going with the Kenwood with Garmin GPS and install some separate speakers and boxed subs. Will try to post some pix after install. Wish me luck

Nice installations- I love seeing this thread still going.

I bought a Kenwood DNX 9990 HU for my 2012 Nissan Frontier crew cab (our new "camping" and other outdoor activity vehicle- Was using a Cayenne TT for this before and well, it was just not practical), and I have to say it is a heck of an impressive head unit. That thing rocks, and it is very fast on all of the screens especially the NAV. For anyone else considering aftermarket upgrade, I would highly suggest it as a choice consideration for 911 install. Kenwood really knocked it out of the park with this new model.

Looks good FMJ! I just received a pioneer avh-8400bh along with the a/c shroud, top cubby, and eurospeed install kit.
Going to try to install it myself next week, cross your fingers.

GPS/NAV Antenna...

Does anyone know if there's any diminished reception by installing the antenna under the dash trim?

BTW: this is a great thread...

Thanks,

I put my GPS antenna under the security cover on the dash and the Sat Radio antenna under the front hood up near the window and have had good reception on both. It has been like that for a couple of years with no issues.

Thanks,
All good - no issues- it's plastic for the dash cover. Don't put the antenna behind metal or partially obstructed by metal and you'll be solid.

The security cover in the center of the dash (adjacent to the windshield) is the factory location. I put my GPS antenna there (Kenwood 6990) and it works perfectly.
