996 stock spacers question ??

Hello everybody:
I would like to know what are the optimum sizes (front and back) of the spacers needed for the stock wheels of a 996 C4S ??
I would like the maximum size posible without rubbing and without any fender rolling.

'Optimum'.........well, some might say it would be good to know what you have for suspension before answering......even then, it's a tad subjective.......but you can run 14mm all around on the wide body with OE rims & tires and not have any rubbing issues unless....your suspension is very low (and-or not very tight)........stay safe w/10mm if you like.

Thanks, GreggT.

I forgot to mention that the car is completely stock. No lowered suspension and stock wheels 18x8 front and 18x11 rear / 225 front and 295 rear. What would be the spacer sizes ?

th eonly spacers that porsche "makes" are 5mm and 17mm. the 5mm are pretty small and only noticeable to true enthusiasts. i used 5mm on the fronts and 17mm on the rears of my '03 996 and it looked rather aggressive but not too outlandish

currently for my 996tt, i am using 20mm on the rears and it looks very nice IMHO. as long as your suspension is not lowered, you can pretty much use any size you like

Then you can go 14mm all around (with longer bolts to match) if you want a fairly aggressive look........here's a pic with with painted OE hollows and a significantly modded-&-lowered suspension. Back off to 10mm if you don't want em out this far. If you are way up at OE height, then your front is about 20mm higher than this car......rear is at least 25 mm higher (full inch).
That dif is a bit hard to imagine when you're just wkg on offset....good luck.

Thanks Lizard1 (Porsche spacers are very expensive ??) and GreegT (beautiful set-up):

I have read other threads where they say that putting more than 7mm spacers in the front messes up the handling of the car. And some of the threads say no more than 10mm in front. Have you guys tried this theory and felt any changes in handling / ride ??????????

I think 5mm is $60 or so each.
H&R 14mm are under $100 a pair (plus bolts...$20/wheel)
