Is this normal?

Wen't to look at a 00 996 C2 today, car looked like it was in overall good shape except for a few cosmetic issues.

One major issue is, the airbag light is on, he said it's when the battery is drained over the winter it sets off the airbag light when the battery is recharged, said this is the second time it has come on when the battery is full drained.

He admited that there was a minor driverside hit on the front corner but it was only bumper cover damage. ( no structural damage and no airbag deployment.

Is he trying to pull one over on me or is this commeon when the battery becomes fully drained that the airbag light comes on as a fault code and needs to be cleared out?

Thanks, guys

I would pay for an on-site PPI - It is a wise $100-$200 investment in pre-purchase peace of mind.

PPI is a must, seller has no problem with this, just want to see if anyone has heard of this happening, airbag light comming on sounded kind of fishy to me, I have had the battery die on me while storing my previous boxster and 911 and never had this happen, If he's BSing about this, than what else is he hiding?

As for the 02, here in Canada the 02 is about 10k more, since this is a pleasure car only getting only about 1600k a year, I'm not sure if I wan't to spend that much.

The Speed Yellow aero is still on the top of my wishlist, anyone?

Good luck on your purchase be very careful. These cars are not cheap to repair if something needs fixing.

I know these things are'nt cheap to maintain or repair, otherwise everyone would have one, I think that is why you can't let your emotions get the best of you when buying a p-car or any car for that matter otherwise you may have some regrets down the road.

I like this car but due to this issue I am not 100% confident in purchasing this car and will most likely have to pass on it, besides it's not yellow !

I was looking at another thread posted on this site with a battery drain issue and this may be a similar problem, he also had a minor hit on the front driverside corner and now a possible short somewhere is causing him some elect. issues and draining his battery.

Neighbor of mine is planning to sell his yellow 99 C2 w/ aero. Shoot me a p.m. and I'll forward your email address to him. I think it has less than 60k miles. Also has litronics and some other options.
