Thank you. Took the words right out of my mouth.

Saying "Your transmission is broken" is not an answer, thats a half *** excuse for them to sell you a transmission and make profit off you.

thanks guys...

like I said I wish I had the flexibility to just go and pick up the car and take it here and there...and do a bunch of research on used trannies or all the other ideas.

but the sad fact is I am stuck...I simply do not have the time or resources to do all that. The car was sent in for the 30K and a clutch and flywheel install and what I thought was a minor tranny issue. It has become a lot more..on top of that I am leaving out of town on the 4th...and just cant do it.

The only thing I have is the shop's reputation. TRE Motorsports is a honest shop and I have to believe in the integrity of the shop managers and just trust that they are NOT ordering me a tranny to make some $$$ off of me. I really hope not...and I just have to trust that based on the shop's rep...all this is legit.

I wish there was an easier way..ugh. =(

There is, have JJ give you a ride to pick it up. Limp out without using 2nd and deal with it when you return.... Don't let a trip set you back some real $$$$, you'll feel better if you take your time and do the research.... I agree with the guys here..... I also told you ealier about the used route, look at how many of us have more miles without issues.....

Let us convince you to save your hard earned $$$$....

i thought there a a company that specializes in reparing porsche transmissions? It's always advertised in Panorama. Somebody help me out here. That has got to be a cheaper. Maybe they're fabricating they're own parts to repair the tranny's since Porsche isn't supplying them or they just have a pile of dead tranny's and they're cannabilizing them. Either way, it's worth looking into it.

I went the POWERHAUS site and they do not list any trans for newer water cooled cars.

I only saw parts and service for the older air cooled models. Unless I am missing something.

as for having them put everything back and "limp" around with no 2nd gear. I dont know if that is a "better" plan. I dont want a car to "limp" around in and taking it back and forth. I am just going to have it fixed.

plus...I have found a solution to help pay for all of this. Its not the best but it will pay for the repairs.

take it to a dealer, you could save thousands! i have several friends in sevice at beverly hills porsche. remember, the dealer gets paid by the factory for warranty work, so they have no reason not to try and get some coverage.
if you want my contact info, just let me know.

Mitchell

How much would towing the car cost? I think your insurance covers it too. A day or two that'll save me $7K is worth it.

Irving take the time rather then having someone score on you. You will regret taking the short cut especially if its going to cost $$$$
