Agency Power fit problem ?
Agency Power fit problem ?
I just installed the Agency Power mufflers in my 2005 996 C4S. I have encounter a problem. The mufflers have a pipe with a rounded edge that connects to the pipe with the tips. This rounded edge pipe, is secure to the pipe going to the tips, by a clamp. I have compared the two rounded pipes side by side, and the Agency Power's rounded edge pipes are bigger and thicker than the OEM rounded edge pipes. So, the OEM original clamps can't secure the two pipes correctly, resulting in exhaust leaks and poor overall fit of the mufflers.
Does anybody has a solution to this problem (like new, bigger clamps) ??
I e-mailed Dan at Vividracing, from where I bought these mufflers, and explained to him the situation and he says: they don't provide or have the clamps. Neither, he provided a solution to this problem.

Thank you adybuncio and zdr2k !!
I will try the Fabspeed clamps ! Probably, my set of mufflers are one of those sets that slipped the quality control dept. However, I have been looking at pictures, and definetely the Agency Power's tube with the rounded end is larger and has a different shape than the OEM. On the OEM mufflers, the rounded end of the pipe, is creased. While, in the Agency Power is completely rounded.
If you have these mufflers, probably you should check for small exhaust leaks, as the OEM clamps are too small to cover or wrap the union completely. The leaks sound like very faint hisses that are only noticeable when you stand behind the car and somebody else applies the throttle. Also. these leaks prevents the muffler from producing a full sound as they are supposed to.
If I can't fix the problem, I will have to ask Dan from Vividracing for an exchange. Any suggestions ?????????????

I would measure the clamps sizes that came with Agency Power - call Dan and ask him to do the same on a new set and see if you got the wrong clamps.....he should be willing to help you and avoid spending more money for Fabspeeds that may or may not fit.....it is a customer service issue....
the agency's don't come with clamps, you use the OEM clamps from stock mufflers.
But yeah I would ask Dan to measure the flared opening on another set and see if your set was messed up on the assembly line.

I actually had the opposite problem with a set of Tubi exhausts that I was mounting to my OEM tips - where the flange on the tips were larger than the Tubi exhuast flange. I came to the conclusion that not all the flanges on the Porsche tips are exactly the same - I think it depends on the style tips you have (I had tequipment sport tips) as to whether or not that combo works with the exhaust. I ended up creating my own spacer to make the sizes match up and also used the Fabspeed clamps....
I have the same problem as well with my AP mufflers - not to that extreme. My passenger side mufflers touch the heat shield, because of this, my exhaust tip sticks out on the passenger side a bit more than on the drivers.
I heard about the fit problem with some Fabspeed mufflers as well. Honestly, from what I hear about Sharky - unless you got high end, there's always going to be some issues with fit.
I guess they're all made in 3rd world countries where the tolerance isn't as great as the stock mufflers.

I took them out yesterday. What DimNSlow says is absolutely true, if you go with the least expensive choice, there is always a compromise in quality. I compared the connection points of the APs with the OEM mufflers and they are off as much as 1/4 of an inch. That is why the fit is so poor.
I e-mailed Dan at Vividracing and there is no chance of a refund.
To all of you considering the APs, be aware that you are receiving a product that is made in China and, as we all know, their quality control is still very poor. When buying these, take into consideration that you or your installer are going to encounter some obstacles in order to make the mufflers fit, and in no way this is a drop and drive affair.
Does anyone here has an opinion on the sound of the Supersprints in a 3.6 cc 996 ?? I am selling the APs. Only used 35 miles, anyone?
The quality and fit of the Supersprints are really good. I had three BMWs , and all of them had Supersprints. However, I don't know how they sound on a Porsche ???? Anyone has a soundclip ?????
