NR bumpers

Has anyone purchased NR auto plastic bumper covers and had issues like my friend? My friend purchased the non oem plastic bumper from them and it seems to be junk, waste of money considering it was over 1k. He had a professional body shop bake it twice, primer, prep and even followed the directions that came with the bumper etc..after putting it on something happened it and pretty much shattered the whole one side of the paint. The NR bumper just flexes way too much and the material just pushes away the paint that is sprayed on it. Just thought I would give you guys heads up and see if anyone else has had these similar problems.

Does anyone sell the modified turbo bumper for narrow body cars (1999 C2) or is it a custom job only? After reading this I guess the NR turbo look bumper is a no go!

I want to say that the body shop didn't mixed enough flex agent with the paint.

Yeah for about $3k.....A custom one is more like $1500 painted....so why are you against a custom one? You will probably get a better fit and better quality...and yes the Turbo Look bumper is a no go.....in my opinion.

Well, I already have a turbo-look fiberglass version (came with the car) and it is a little wavy.... was hoping a polyurethane one would look better and have a smoother (more OEM looking) finish.

I thought the turbo bumpers hung down more than the factory C2 bumper which would match my TechArt sideskirts better.

David, yes www.mashaw.com carries the TT bumper in fiberglass for the 99-01. I have one and the fit and finish is perfect.

No matter how perfect the fit is, it still will not look like the factory TT bumper modded...plus over time it will ripple...all fiberglass does it...for the price you spend on that, you can have them factory TT bumper modded....

Bumper

No, I am pretty sure they mixed it corrrectly. They paint high end cars like Bentley, Mercedes, Bmw etc...I am pretty sure they know what their doing.

I have the NR GT2 bumper and no problems, looks like OEM, even has the plug hole for the tow hook. I always have clear mask put on any paint job on the bumper immediately to prevent chipping and now 2 yrs later it is perfect. The best part is the front lip splitter is soft urethane and bends on steep driveways and bumps. I have considered carbon fiber but then I couldn't drive it. Will

I completely agree with newport. i have seen pictures of many different manufactor making replica TT rear bumper and all of them looks way off! I think it is because the replica curves in more at the rear bottom and the real TT bumper kinda comes straight down.

Fiberglass bumpers will always be junk

If you want a turbo look, get the RUF... its made of urethane, fit's as good as Porsche if not better
