Opinion on winter tires on 01 C4?

I have a short commute, about 12 miles each way, opposite traffic so it's usually a fun ride. I'm thinking as long as the weather isn't too bad I'm going to drive her year round.

Any of you guys have strong opinions about snow tires? What brand do you like? Are all-season tires even a consideration? Do you trust regular tire shops?

Any/all advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm in the Northeast when do you recommend making the switch?

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SNOW TIRES!!!! I used to have Dunlop sport snow tires or whatever there called on my Audi S4(in the northeast) I could literally go 100mph in the snow turn and brake. Obviously not as good but WAYYYYYY better than before and WAYYYYY better than anyone else on the road. It being a C4 and having the weight over teh power I say do it I will be an unreal experience and tons of fun!!!!

Wow, that's really inspirational. What tires are you running? Do you have an extra set of rims that you change out too?

Yes, I have different sets of wheels. In the winter I prefer 17 inchers (7 and 8,5 wide) with skinnier tires and higher profile. Either ContiWinterFriction TS790 (in 205 & 225 or 255) - or for serious winter fun: a set of real winter tires with studs, in 205/50 & 225/45. (Gislaved, Michelin or Nokian) But I doubt these are available (ur suitable) in the US...

Another vote for winter tires. Once the temperature gets cold-ish (ie -10C), even 4 season tires are completely useless because the rubber gets so stiff.
The brand isn't THAT important, just get taller skinnier tires as previously suggested.
