C4S Manual or Turbo Tiptronic at sticker?

I currently have a C4S Cab thats 6-speed, but I'm considering trading for a Turbo Cab Tip that I can get at sticker. Will this be worth it or will I be dissapointed with the point and shoot drive of the Tiptronic?

My C4S is ok power wise. It doesnt excite me now as is

I'm looking for more excitement in a driving machine

I like the Tip because my wife can drive it and it would be easier on me as a daily driver.

I can also keep my C4s and get a second car like a MBZ C300 as a daily driver.

I'm confused

Help Guys!

I am considering the same. Have a 2004 C4S w/ 6 speed. May purchase 997 Turbo w/tip. Thoughts anyone?

Forget the tip, boring imo. Might as well get a bmw. A 6 spd is a piece of cake as a DD, even in heavy traffic. The fact that my wife can't drive a stick is a bonus to me. Seriously, do step up to a TT, the power is intoxicating, I'll never go back to a NA porsche.

I agree 100% with TT Surgeon. If you go the tip route, you will be looking for something new within months. So to answer your question, I would keep the C4S and get a DD that makes you happy, best of both worlds......Then After a few months with your new daily driver I would order a Turbo Cab and tell my wife I couldn't pass it up, it was such a great deal. She will understand

I presently drive the C4S cab with 6 speed manual and love it. Of course it is my first Porsche and I'm already on the list to order the turbo cab with manual as well. Personally can't stand how the tiptronic behaves. Also a plus that my wife can't drive a manual. The C4S is my DD and I look forward to taking it out everyday. The turbo will replace it. Might as well have fun while I can.

Forget the tip

I had a tt tip, got rid of it. 6 speed is only way to go. tip is always in the wrong gear, it sucks, don't buy it.

There is no reason a 6 speed can't be a DD, I do it every day.

Smile C4S vs Turbo

Wow, you guys are great. The funny thing is that I am the wife and am the car nut in the house. I did get a daily driver a few weeks ago (Mercedes w/6 speed also). I have put 55k on my C4S as a daily driver and at the track. I think you have convinced me to stay with the 6 speed. I just finished driving the autobahn and 14 alps in Europe with the Porsche Club. I went 171 mph in a 997 C4S on the autobahn. All on video. My husband thought he was going to die. That is what inspired me to do a Turbo now! Love the comments - keep em coming!

White Turbo

By the way, love the picture of the white Turbo. My C4S is white and I only drive white ones. Love it! In Europe I drove the ceramic brakes which were amazing too - will need those on my new Turbo.

In my opinion, the tip is a waste of time, 6 speed all the way.

Thanks Guys, but I think I'm gonna have to go for the TIP. It's Either that or I'm gonna have to move away from Porsche like to a CL63 or something. There is a lot of traffic where I drive in the city mostly and it sucks that other family members cant drive my car.

So if that were considered would you rather not drive a Porsche at all if it had to be a Tiptronic??

Tip

I have a Tip and have tracked it three times now.
It has been absolutely fantastic and the only thing that has passed me was my friend in his GT3 through the twistys. Daily driver or track day car its a winner.
Go for it!

Well my dealer got a trade in today - a White 2007 Turbo w/stick. I went over after work to drive it and redlined it right out of the driveway (didn't realize the power). It was amazing - loved the stick. Too much traffic at 5pm in Seattle to open it up, so going back tomorrow. Gotta have one now - but need to order one to my specs. Just gotta convince my husband that it is ok to spend that much on a car now. Thanks for all the help everyone. (I am new to this forum and it is very helpful).
