Getting a bit disspointed with GIAC chip in my Turbo

I understand that GIAC made the turning based on temp outside, and other variables. Today it was about 45 degrees in the AM and I thnk I saw 17lbs of boost in 3rd gear for less than 1/2 a second. I have yet to see the car hold 17lbs of boost for more than 2 seconds on my car in any gear. 1st gear I don't think I've seen more than 9lbs.

Is this normal? Why can't they program the car to boost 17lbs from say 3K RPM to redline?

Turbo programming is designed to spike initially and then taper back to redline. This is for longevity of the turbo. The factory programming is the same way.

You should see 1.2 bar spikes and taper to 1.0 at redline with G.I.A.C. programming on a healthy car.

Here is a boost graph of the FACTORY programming with our exhaust. It clearly shows the spike and taper I spoke of in the above post.

Thanks for the feedback. My Porsche Tech has looked at my car 3 times and stated that all was fine. I guess it's the "spike and taper off" I'm seeing. I think I will look for alternative tuning so I can maximize boost and keep it maximized.

Why would you do that?

Running 17 to redline will shorten the life of your turbos from years to possibly days.

AVUS,

you won't be able to generate enough load on the car to see long boost curves until the higher gears. Also if bored, try the GIAC race mode with 100 octane gas. It is like hitting a crack pipe.

Good luck with your search.

Our kit is done....

We are just waiting on units from Borg Warner. They are the OE supplier for Porsche, and the reason for the hold up.

i dont know if it helps but..
i have an audi A3 turbo with ECU TUNE + locked wastegate for always max boost. and sometimes i use more 100 SHOT NOS over that.

my car have 40 000 km with this configuration and i just change the oil, since that. the turbine is a KKK(stock one)...
the VTG's cant resist like a normal turbine ?
