Upgraded Brakes

Question, are Brembo brakes an upgrade to the red Turbo brakes that are standard. I think the PCCB's are more then I will ever need but am curious if an upgrade to the standard Turbo brake is even necessary and what level the Brembo's are at. In other words is it even worth messing with the Brembo and was curious about the cost.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The Brembo GT brake system is definately better than the standard brake system on the 911 turbo, and probably better than the PCCBs.

love the new 6 piston Brembo front + the 4 piston rear. i'd still prefer PCCB but if u don't have PCCB from factory the Brembo will be a nice upgrade. they weight between the stock steel brake & PCCB.

There is nothing wrong with the stock big red brakes, they are the biggest, best steel brakes porsche has ever put on a 911, already 6 piston fr/4 rear. Brembos would be a waste of money imo, unless you just want to add bling to your on line signature. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

+1 the stock Big Reds are made by Brembo. You're gonna have to be a hell of a hard driver to overdrive the stock Big Reds IMO.

Unless you are a hardcore tracker you are wasting your money. The BBK Brembo GT setup is probably the best out there and IMHO better than the PCCB's. Lot's of track junkies are using this setup. I will never be at the level or take my Turbo to that level to require more than the stock setup.

Alpine, I hear from my local Porsche mechanic that some of the heavy trackers are the ones having problems with the PCCB's? Who knows, but one thing thats a big plus with the yellows is the reduced weight. I just couldn't swing for the extra cost so I stuck with the stock red Brembos and have no complaints. Love your new set up, your car looks killer with the 20's! Very clean look. Hope you sort out the yellowing issues, keep us posted.

I agree that the OEM Brembo made brakes that come factory on the Porsche are outstanding. Bottom line is that they are still OEM, and there is always room for improvement. Most of us are not on OEM suspension, and the Porsche is one of the best handling autos straight out of the box. While the Horse Power is also very adequate many of us will be finding ways to add more power even if we have yet to use every bit of HP we have now.

The Brembo GT kits are designed for us, with attention to the type of driving we do. The OEM system is still OEM, and made to suit any and every driver that may end up behind that wheel. The GT kit is lighter, modulation is improved, the longevity of the components will also be improved when you do end up at the track or driving the beyond daily driven status.
