Phil...I was surprised also...I went in fully expecting to get an A6.

With regards to all that have mentioned the Acura RL...my brother in law has one and it just doesn't do it for me.

The final decision was made yesterday...I bought the Lexus GS350 AWD. It was a much tougher decision than I expected. The deciding factor was the Audi loaner car I just had while the Turbo was being serviced...it just didn't do it for me.

The Lexus matches all of my requirments...it's incredibly comfortable, all wheel drive, has every techno do-dad you can image, Mark Levinson sound system, heated and cooled seats, ipod and sirius radio...plus its pretty quick at 0-60 of 5.7 secdonds...the list goes on...and all for under budget.

While the looks don't overly wow me...it's a nice enough looking ride.

I take delivery in about a week. I'll post my driving impressions (if anyone cares).

Thanks so much everyone. Like always your imput was a tremendous help. It's so great having a forum like this...and here I thought the internet was only for ****!

Congrats!
Do I get a finders fee for suggesting the car first?

There is no question that I was not even considering a Lexus before you recommended it...next time you are in NY or I'm in Chicago I'll buy you a few beers!

Well I took delivery of the Lexus yesterday. It has only been two days but I am very happy with the choice.

It is incredibly comfortable, quick, quiet and really a joy to drive as a commuter car.

You just can't beat the value. For $679 per month you get:

1. All wheel drive (for the lousy NJ winter). BUT...it has this hump by my right leg...apparerently it's the AWD controller...I have gotten used to it already but it's very strange.
2. Heated and cooled seats (the seats are unbelievably comforatable)
3. Mark Levinson sound system which actually is much better than I expected...it's really pretty impressive
4. Sat Nav with voice command (you say an address and it takes you there...well we will see how well that works over time). It also works if you type in a phone number it will take you to the address (again we will see how well this works in practice)
5. Voice commands for just about everthing...say warmer and the temp gets raised
6. Color backup camera
7. Park assist
8. 6 cd changer
9. Sirius satellite radio (I wish I had this in the Turbo)
10. Ipod hookup...works really well (also wish I had this in the turbo)
11. Keyless entry and startup...pretty cool...as long as the "key" is on you, the doors unlock and start the engine by hitting the start button...there isn't even a key or a place to insert it.
12. Power rear sun shade
13. Does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds (not too long ago that was Ferrari territory)
14. It has LED lighting in the car...gives off a cool blueish hue...and like in my BMW has ambient light from the LEDs so you can see stuff without turning on the lights
15. Homelink...3 garage buttons
16. Built in DVD player (damn thing only works when parked!)
17. Even has a tape deck...so odd but true
18. Bluetooth-works great...it is so nice to be able to knock off some work calls before I get to the office. The parrot system in my turbo is awful.
19. Power sunroof

So, it has only been 2 days and I really like this thing...I'm just sorry I waited so long to get it. It's my first automatic tranny in nearly 20 years (if you don't count the wife's car).

Tomorrow I'm off to finalize some options for the Cobra...a new thread will cover that...hey I can't possibly go a few weeks without looking for a car...I just love it!

Rock on brothers!

Some pics:

Based on the parameters you gave ($800/mo. and 36 mo. lease) many of the car mentioned are out of contention, ie. S8, S6, M5 etc...
You need to consider mid-size cars. You already have an awesome 997 TT so you want comfort, room and practicality but do you still want sport features?
Reason being, and don't shoot me for this, the Audi Q7 IMO for the price and what it offers is the best SUV in the market. It'll fit in the $$$ parameters you stated.
Anyway I do not mean to offend by suggesting the Q7.
If not a BMW 535 is great. That motor makes serious hp with the Proceed V chip. The 335 with the chip can run near if not even with the stock M5. The chip and exhaust is all you need (all easily reversible) to make 370 rwhp.
Good luck with the selection process.

GT3Ranger...Juan

Oh well never mind. Did not realized you'd gotten a car. Good luck with it and congrats on the acquisition.

Cheers, GT3Ranger

Yeah Phil...I know...another black one...the cobra will be titanium with black stripes though!

Incredibly on the way to work today I was behind two different GS350s...both silver...it looks pretty good in silver! What can I say...I dig black cars...AND it keeps my detailer in the black as well.

S600. it is almost as fast as the Turbo and has 4 doors. The rest of the 4 door cars wish they were the S600.
