GT2 front air duct

I've heard of aftermarket company offering the upper air duct for the front cover of 997 turbo to replicate GT2. Any info appreciated

The GT2 Airduct is not an item that is affixed to the front bumper like the GT3 or TechArt's pieces. It is designed into the front bumper from the factory so there is no making something look like it since it would sit on the surface just like the GT3 vent does now.

I guess I phrased this the wrong way....Instead of installing factory pieces, along with ducting behind center radiator....I was informed that techart has this "vent" available for aestetic purposes? I am now performing a major frame correction on a GT2 and am very familiar with all parts OEM. One client request has been to emulate this vent on a "standard" 997 Turbo. Since a GT2 front "cover" is OFF THE WALL EXPENSIVE, I am attempting to replicate this look. tah tah-Mark

I think Alpine is saying that the GT2 and the GT3 front bumper vents are different. I saw the GT2 upclose this weekend, and what Alpine is saying seems to be correct, the front air vent on the GT2 is built in to (molded with) the front bumper. However, the GT3 vent is a "bolt on" piece. Techart sells the one below in CF and matte black, around $700. There was a debate a few weeks ago where a guy from ?? said the OEM GT3 plastic vent (basically the same thing as the Techart piece below) was only $30. Maybe someone can check with Suncoast on this.

TurboBill - that is correct and what I meant. The GT2 has a molded in vent which is not something you can reproduce without some autobody work. The GT3 vent from the dealership is only $30.00. The vent is a matt looking piece of plastic. The TA piece is CF.

Aracerx - I hope that cleared up what I meant.

Here is a picture of it closer from the top. As you can see it is molded into the front bumper. So the vent will not be black all around. It will the color of the car since it is part of the bumper and the small vent slats will be black on the inside.

Alpine, I was thinking about installing a front bumper vent in my 997TT (purely for looks). Since I do not want the Carbon Fiber look, it sure would be nice to buy the OEM GT3 piece for $30.00 vs. the Techart "Air Vent for front bumper, Matte Black Version" for $789 (note there is a Techart Carbon Matte Version for $1,189). Could it possibly be that the OEM piece for $30 is the same as the TA piece for $789???

Do you know anyone who has actually bought and installed the OEM GT3 piece in a 997TT??? Since I want matte black, it seems crazy to spend 20x the price for the TA version, unless there is something we dont know about the TA piece that makes it "better".

The OEM GT3 piece is partnumber 9975753279001C and is 22€ inkl. tax in Germany. So you can get this part from every OPC with that number.

Well, the part number made life easy. Thank you google.

Now, has anyone installed this piece on a 997TT? or, has anyone compared this piece to the Techart piece?

I saw both in person, but I pick the Techart pieces instead because to matches the rest of the carbon. Both factory and TA make plastic version. I included picture for your reference. Factory one is way cheaper in pricing compare to TA part, but look the same from a distance.

Techart version in carbon.

Factory GT3 carbon vent, sorry only have carbon picture.

There are no real advantages except for the dollar difference. Some people want to complete the TA look with the Vent as well. It's really on your tolerance level to pay 750 for a matt black TA piece or $30 for an OEM Porsche Piece

Here are two pics attached of the TA in Matt and the OEM GT3 - up close. I cropped out the rest of the picture so you can focus on the vent only The main difference is that the TA piece has a large verticle design in the center of the vent compared to the OEM. I also would place the vent close to the hood like Toffee and what I would believe to be FredTT or Sharky's GT3RS. I also believe N2it has the OEM Porsche Vent as well on his Turbo. I am considering doing this vent. I know the downforce won't hurt the front end since TA sells this piece for the Turbo and the new GT2 has a similiar vent as well as the RSR and CUP. The 07 RSR has a molded one but seems more aggressive in design than the 08 GT2.

I agreed with Alpine, TA is over price on the Matt Black air vent. The stock Matt air vent will do just fine since you are not in favor of carbon.

WOW-Alpine is spot on....Fantastic to get this info without my "usual" PIA investigation. I go along with Toffee on the OEM part and will install this on a 07 Turbo for a client who wanted this type of look. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!!-mArK

Is this for looks only, or is there a relatively easy/inexpensive way to plumb the output of the center radiator into the front air duct?

I've heard that the TA Vent is Screwed in opposed to the OEM GT3 vent which is glued on. Can anyone confirm?
