Dension 500 installation in 20 min.

Yesterday I had the Dension 500 received and thought that I try the installation by myself . So I opened the trunk, in order to seek a place for the installation.

When i saw the CDC i remembered the dension manual, which says that the two devices will not operate simultaneously, so I decided to get off this useless piece of last century tec which cannot play MP3s and therefore I have never actually used it.

The CDC plastic cover deducted, six screws and wires resolved and it was outside. The light wave from the CDC fits the Dension without adapter, you need none of the stuff supplied with the dension. Power and ground i could get from the CDC connection.

To my own surprise, everything worked immediately

Then I have the Dension and the Ipod holder attached to and the cables were properly relocated, the CDC plastic cover installed and I was ready.

It really works smoothly!

One question: My ipod shows Dension firmware version 2.07, is that possible?? I only can find 2.05 on the dension page.

Two pics of the installation, maybe it is usefully to somebody (I know, some cosmetic surgery is required )

I checked Dension and the only version they have online is v2.05 so I'm not sure why you'd have v2.07 already. Maybe it's because you're not in the US?

BTW, here's his NAV unit. For some reason, they're here in European cars.

I'm not exactly sure why Porsche did this but they put our NAV unit here:

NAV drive

And this is what we see when we open the flap where your NAV unit is:

Now i remember, itīs because of the charcoal absorber (?) for the fuel US cars need to have.

Better known as Aktivkohlefilter

itīs connected to the fuel system to filter the vapors from the fuel in the tank so they can not harm the environment or people. Obviously a US specific feature, we donīt car about all this and running top speeds at the autobahn all day long and like the smell of high octanes
