Nav-Tv finally debugged

My installer contacted me today and informed me that the folks at Nav-Tv resoved the issue with their unit. About half of the time when waking up the head unit it would not recognize the i-pod. The screen would read no cd changer. He claims that the problem is now fixed. This will be my third unit. I told him that my car is covered and on a lift for the winter, I'll change it out in the spring. Hope three's a charm.

Mine's on my lift and covered also. I'm going to do the PioneerAVIC-D3 when I get around to it.

I just purchased one to install on my car when it arrives? Is this a common problem?

greta, he's talking about the Nav-tv iPod interface kit not the Tooki. Two completely separate items. You have the Dension iPod unit so this issue doesn't concern you.

Don't know if it's common, but my NAVTV unit is getting ripped out next week and then thrown off the Golden Gate Bridge so it can't come back to haunt me. I'll be replacing it with a mObridge.

Nav-Tv

You might want to try to swap this unit for a new one. They really might have fixed the problem. If the defect described above applies to you.

I'm on my third unit. The above defect is not the only one I suffer from. If the mObridge doesn't work, I'll try the updated NAVTV unit. Thanks for the info! Good luck with yours.

The Dension seems to be sailing along just fine if you need another option (and yes, I'm willing to make a deal for you).

Yeah, you keep saying that. You're probably right. My installer has had problems with Densions though and was using me as a guinea pig for NAVTV, and now mObridge. Yeah, I know, maybe it's my installer. Could be, but I'm gonna give him another chance. Thanks for the offer, Eric.

i love the mobridge works great. One minor bug i did find thou is the 160gb Ipod classic with firmware 1.1 caused a issue on my mobridge. I since downgraded to 1.03 firmware and submitted my ticket to mobridge hope they find a fix for this. Besides that it's a great unit.

Do you have experience with the NAVTV unit? If so, can you compare? Thanks!

No i can't say much about Nav-tv unit. The Mobridge was my first unit and it works as advertise so i have no complains. What issues were you having with your nav-tv ?

All of the following are intermittent bugs:
  • doesn't recognize iPod at startup, even after disconnect/reconnect and ignition reset
  • PCM freezes with accompanying high pitch tone; all buttons become unresponsive, including volume (which is really lovely while driving on the highway)
  • list view shows wrong list; for example, the system might show that I'm viewing playlists, but it shows me artists instead

There's more, but I can't remember everything.

If the mObridge works, I'll be psyched, especially considering it has a randomize feature (or at least I think it does).

Scuzy - what was the issue with the Apple 1.1 firmware that you submitted a ticket to mobridge about?

I also have an iPod classic 160gb, which now has the 1.1 Apple firmware, and a mobridge, and it seems to work fine after the firmware upgrade - at least, on the couple of very short trips I've made since the 1.03-1.1 upgrade.

I also have had no problems with the mobridge, I installed it myself. Never tried the NAV-TV OPiP or the Denison. On a side note, I also have a NAV-TV Tooki (also self installed) that worked fine until recently. It is being replaced - there is a known bad component problem that NAV-TV have posted about on their support board.
