Last I heard, they couldn't keep from blowing them up.
On a related note, here is a great site detailing the DSG, its construction and how it works. A photo of the original PDK is here as is a link to a video showing the DSG operation on a real life model.

PDK will be available for some 2009 model cars. The Carrera, S, 4, and 4S models will have the facelift, DFI, and the PDK. The turbo will remain unchanged as from what Porsche tells us.

My best guess is that Porsche will keep with the buttons on the wheel. Porsche is very into their heritage and since that is what they started with I think they will stay with it. I think the 2010 turbo will have it but can not say for sure until Porsche tells us.

I would love to see paddles.
Anyone hesitant to be the Alpha buyer for the PDK?

From Porker:
"Just been at Porsche this morning...gleaned/blagged this from them: -
Deposits (3-5K) now being unofficially taken for 997 Facelift car - for AUGUST 2008 Delivery.
1. DDI injection S models with standard 380 BHP, standard carerra now upto 350 BHP.
2. New Rear Light clusters, slightly narrower with LED lights.
3. New Rear Bumper/PU (think this has been well documented).
4. New Front Bumper/PU again this seems to be well known.
5. New Headlights.
6. New Standard and Optional Alloys.
7. New Touchscreen SAT Navigation System & Bluetooth
8. New DASH, apparently completely reworking of the Interior...more options
and a PDK Paddle Shifter"
The initial reports after the 7 speed patent filing indicated a paddle shift setup as well.
Who knows....
Sounds like they're going to release something special though:
Porsche's head of R&D, Wolfgang Durheimer, describes the double-clutch system as a significant breakthrough. "It will take us to the next performance plane, particularly in terms of acceleration," he told Inside Line.

News about the C2S but not the TT
I have just ordered a new C2S and the dealer has informed me that the PDK is on the 911 (my model anyway) from July 2008 builds onwards aswell as the following bits:
Will let you in on more as I find out
- I-Pod interface (so time to take the CD changer off the spec)
- bluetooth with the telephone module
- something to do with the tail pipe of the sports exhaust has changed
- a heated steering wheel (no good for here in Dubai)
- vented seats of some sort but not on the sports seats; maybe on the adaptive ones though
- 5 more colours
Will let you in on more as I find out

PDK & sports suspension!
News in from the dealer today; you can now have the sports suspension with the PDK gearbox where as you couldn't with the tiptronic!
Think I'll stick with the PASM to save my fillings....

Are those paddles attached to the backside of the steering wheel? Paddles on the steering column would be better (like the F-1 Ferraris)?
