Attention or Indifference ?
Attention or Indifference ?
When I drive my 997tt it does get noticed by many. Some of the attention is positive , some negative , and some simply ignore .
On the positive side -- Many point or give a thumbs up .The car becomes an interesting discussion topic when I park it . The fun of owning this car is being able to share it with others who appreciate it even though they don't have the car.
On the negative side --not everyone is happy about the car . Some frown in traffic. My Porsches in general have attracted a few theives too and thus I do drive with a mental awareness of others around me . Some feel that since I have this modded 997tt that they must challenge the car as if they imagine that I am always in the mood to race . Then there are others who mean well and just want to look at the car causing a problem because when I want to change lanes I slow down and they slow down . Then I speed up and they speed up. This makes it harder to change lanes as they sit by my side in my personal comfort zone .
Observations --Note --these are general observations rather than sweeping lump sum generalizations .
On the whole : the most polite and respectful of my car whether it be parked or on the road are :
1) Males who own German or tuned Japanese cars .
2) Women who drive German cars excluding SUV's
Oddly enough I have found that my car gets tremendous respect when parked at a college campus and younger drivers (20- 40)tend to be more mindful of the car . I am older than 40 btw.

The level of attention is probably dependent on where you live. In Wisconsin, there aren't many Porsche's. Even fewer are Ferrari's and Lambos. In A few miles south, and the numbers of Porsche's increase...In Chicago, Porsche's are a dime a dozen. I get very few looks aside from the occasional high school student passing by in their mom's minivan.
It's not what they think that matters as much as what they do . I often wonder if a pickup truck would have cut me off if I was driving a Ford F150 .
In fact since I do have two other cars the reaction I get when I drive each of the three is very different . Oddly enough when I drive the Civic Si EVERY Japanese car wants to race it seems. With the Porsche it's not the case . With the Mercedes no one cares .
I coul;d have wriiten this thread about the reaction of others towards any one of my cars but with the Porsche 997tt it is different and as I did mention a great deal of the attention can be positive too .
Today I was cut off by two light commercial vehicles, incredible rudness... seems more often in the Porsche than other more run of the mill cars
