Bad review

Well I was so close to putting in an order for cab when I read this review

http://www.track-days.co.uk/roadtest...p?c=47&i=17678

I am particularly concerned about the comments on the body rigidity/squeaks and rattles.

body rigidity/squeaks and rattles = a given with a cab.

I would not let some review make your purchasing decisions. Go drive one (even if not a turbo) and see if you are happy. A cab will not be a stiff as a coupe.

All I have to say is go drive one. Definetly no Coupe but still a great car. Im sure less rattles or squeaks than any other conv in the business.

IMO if you really wanted teh car one negative article amongst all the positive ones would not sway your decision. Go out and drive that thing!

That review was lame. Some british clown with bad teeth. He clearly believes English cars are superior (if you don’t mind visiting the repair shop weekly)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I’m on my 4th Porsche cab. 2001 996 cab, 2003 996 cab, 2005 996 turb cab, and now my latest the 2008 997 turbo cab. None of them have had a squeak. Better than a test drive, go out and rent one for the weekend. You will be pleasantly surprised!!<o></o>

+1. I've owned an 06' 911 Cab and an 08' 911TTCab. No rattles or squeaks. If you're going to let this clown influence your decision, then e-mail him and ask him what car he would like you to purchase!

It is just one review but it gave me reason to pause. I did drive one on and I thought it was actually pretty solid for a cab but it was pretty smooth roads. I wanted ask those of you who have lived with the car. I agree on the brit angle. The DB9 volante has more body flex than a 997 cab.

don´t know what kind of 997TT he drove, but this is BS:

"Cruising along in 5th on the motorway I wanted to overtake, by just squashing the carpet and surging forward on a wave of torque, just like in the manual. But this isn’t possible as it kicks down to 3rd every time, shoving you into your seat as it shoots forward. I know some will say that I should put it in manual mode, but I tried that and it still kicked down."

No Kickdown in manual mode, never ever.

No more to say about that write up....

Consider the source.....nothing like that mentioned in any of the popular mags.

My 996 Turbo Coupe had rattles mostly from the sunroof but the dash squeaked a bit too. Neither one of my Porsche Convertibles had/have any rattles. I'm in love w/ this 997 Turbo Cabriolet, I highly doubt I will ever sell it. It's freakin perfect!

All of my colleagues that have cabs, whether 997TT or 996 C2S cabs or even a 993 cab, experience squeaks and rattles. My last TT, a 996 X50, sqeaked like a pig, but I still loved her. Candidly, I have rattles on my 997TT with approx. 10,700 plus miles on her ..... and mine is a coupe. Its all part of the 911 experience. If you want a ride with less/minimal rattles, I'd strongly suggest an MB AMG cab. as they can be a sweet ferocious ride.
