I was at the dealer this morning (Newport Beach Porchse) and was chatting with their shop foreman. He said that all of the first 8 GT2s sold in the U.S. have been wrecked by their owners. He said the car is absolutely unforgiving and even experienced drivers can get in way over their heads with it. Very intersting. They have a black one on the floor unsold right now - although he said there has been a lot of interest.

 

Even knowing the facts about its predecessor I don't believe that, sorry.

 

I doubt all 8 of the first US models have been crashed already. I could maybe believe that one of them might've crashed but no way all 8 have.

 

What motivation would he have to lie to me though??

 

Something to think about, maybe he told you that in hopes of convincing you to buy that black GT2 in their showroom? Just a thought...

 

Maybe the delivery truck crashed, killing 8 GT2s in an instant.

True...but then again, the 996GT2 wasn't called "the widowmaker" for no reason.

 

To create an aura about it and improve mark-up? I can't see Porsche having a tough time selling GT2s even in this economy.

The shop foreman doens't get paid on sales. He has no personal stake in selling the GT2. There is no reason for him to do it for the sales dept. He just might be exagerating.
