AWE 700 versus EVOMS EVT700

Not trying to start a religious war here, but is there any objective comparison data on these two kits? Cost? Dyno? 1/4 mile? 60-130 runs? Indications on durability/reliability?

I've done searches, but it's not clear whether the previous results are normal/indicative or are from "shop cars" or "development cars" that might get more hand tweaking or other stuff versus the off-the-shelf kits.

If anyone with the AWE 700 kit is in the SF Bay Area, I would be willing to participate in a scientific real-world test (I have the EVT 700 kit)...

Chris I don't think there has ever been a head-to-head. The closest would be the 60-130 driftbox runs, and the Texas Mile. Last year the EVO car did 187, this year 190 with a headwind. Clearly they made some tweaks over the past 6 months to the car to pickup a very tough 3 mph (realistically probably could have picked up another 5mph without the headwind). The AWE car did 185.8 into the headwind on the but could have gotten a tick faster had I turned the PSM off.

For sure the AWE kit is a completely reversible bolt-on without any metalworking. There is only about 2 minutes of trimming involved on the intercooler ducts. Alex "Sharky" could probably give more insight on the involvement of an EVO700 install.

The clear thing is this friendly competition benefits us turbo owners tremendously, and makes exotic/supercar performance available to us at bargain pricing - especially with the bar being raised with the upcoming ZR1, Vspec GTR, LFA, etc.

I would like to see a competition of these 4 cars :
1) The AWE 700
2) The Evoms 700
3) OEM Gt2 Turbo's fitted to a 997tt
4) The Switzer 800 HP beast

Ok --that was dreamland . Reality is that as a guy interested in some upgrades I'm kinda left guessing. Many of you guys who made the jump are the first to do so .

I think it's very early days in the development of the 997TT stuff. I haven't driven an AWE700 (I agree with what ECLOU says) but we've done 8 of the EVT700s now here in California so I can comment on them. I think making the most of the VTG technology that was put in place on these cars is the right and natural step to getting to the 700 mark. To me that was and still is the sweet spot on "daily" driver 996TTs. I think once you get rid of the VTG set up and go to the Garrett turbos (which will get you the numbers we're seeing on the 996TT) the car will in my mind loose some of its appeal/charachter. We are all obviously going to head in that direction too for the guys that want even more since we're running into the limits of VTG turbos. The power comes on quickly, efficiently and very smoothly. These 700's using VTG's don't have considerable lag and then a sudden explosion of power like a 996TT with GT30s or 35s. That's a different experience all-together. These cars feel less like a turbo and more NA-like, which I think is great for the track and consistency. I think its easier to use/harness that power. These cars hit the 10s a lot easier and the power comes on in such a way that you don't realize how fast you're going... My 996tt with said turbos reminds me a bit more of a 930 in terms of the power. It's a lot of fun but in a different way. My 996tt feels brutal. An EVT700 feels refined and more managable I think. Enough babbling!

Woodster tries out the 997TT EVOMS

Sharkey,

I can comment if you will. I drove (and did a friendly pull against) yesterday!!
EVOMS (Todd Z's) 997TT (full story will be told by Mike Meyers or Luis Jr/great stuff!).

This car has a very refined power level. It has NO lag and is very torquey and quick.
(Many know that I competed against this car last Oct at the Texas Mile and beat it by
about 3.5 mph). Compared to my car, the EVO 997TT has more power down low, without question and has great drivablity as a result of that. My K24/18g car with all the supporting goodies pulls HARD on TOP and is not as torquey (remember this is a relative thing as my car has lots of torque at any RPM but does not feel at all like this EVO modded VGT turbos, Their car really feels fantastic. I am a believer.

Cheers!

Marty K.
