What do you folks think of this Porsche "Intoductory Offer" for IPod upgrade on '08 and earlier 997 models? Does it really work? do you have to do a computer update as well? any other hidden costs?

Look carefully under the IPOD preset you'll see FM-A-1, indicating this is a FM signal. You can not control the IPOD from PCM...only volume.

 

Here are the best iPod Options for Porsche:

1. Leave iPod playing near home telephone, dial home telephone from Porsche PCM, answer home telephone, and enjoy iPod music over telephone.

2. Give up worldly music altogether and begin Gregorian monk chants for your daily commutes.

3. RF Modulator offered by Porsche.


I am saturated in urine (i.e. p*ssed) that Hans and Frans (i.e. Porsche engineers) won't get off their VTG-designing arssses and give their 150K customers what the Hyundai Elantra offers as standard equipment.

And please...none of this "Well, the Porsche 997TT is a car for purists who love the driving experience" or "If you wanted a Lexus, you should have bought one." Why would Porsche install a frigging chronometer wart on the dash if that was the case?? Could I be the first to exchange that worthless piece of mundane gadgetry for an auxiliary iPod connection?
