New 997 TT owner from UK - what mods to do?
New 997 TT owner from UK - what mods to do?
Hi all,
I have just purchased a 997 TT to replace my 997 GT3...loving the Turbo and the power.
I used to have a 996TT which I put a Tubi on - loved the sound as the turbos spooled up.
Have the tuning itch and wondered what to do to the Turbo.
The car is an '06 car in GT Silver...so far I have fitted rear spacers and the red tail lights.
What wheels would people recommend? Will changing the suspension destroy the ride quality?
Thinking of a Tubi again - are there any others I should look at?
Off to Germany with it in September to do the Nurburgring!
All advice greatfully received,
Henry

some lightweight wheels like Champion RG5 distributed by cargraphic, or HRE P40 - P43 or my favorite the Sport Technic mono10 (less costly but as good as the others -only 20lbs- and less used which may your car looks unique
)

Concerning the engine for the same price thanks to a weak $, you can get
Awe Exhaust
Awe headers
Awe Intercoolers
Awe Giac Flash
IPD plenum

don't know how much power put plenty of

I'd say suspension comes first.
There is plenty of power already, but the car is wobbly in the corners.
Get PSS Damptronics, stiffer sways, and replace a few links and you should be set.
If you want to set off the look get wheels.
Then I'd go for a plenum since top end power is good, but lacking in the 3-4K RPM range, which is exactly where you can get a huge boost from the plenum.
Lastly I would start working on the major power upgrades, exhaust, headers, ECU.
In terms of drivability after the suspension mods, it really depends on your roads. I got the PSS Damptronics with a pretty low/aggressive alignment and with the bumpy roads of NY it can be a bit bothersome. Not in the sense that you get annoyed, but mostly that you have to be extra careful and watch where you drive. If you have good paved roads, not too many potholes, or speed bumps, I would say the ride is actually better than stock because its more composed, there is less body motion going over the bumps and the car feels more planted.
So far I've done the Damptronics, just mounted my RS171s, and got the GMG adjustable sways coming in next week. Debating doing the plenum next, after that I think I'm set for a good enough time to enjoy the car on the track.

Hi,
depends on turbines you like to have.
You should buy europipe exhaust, the best I ever saw and heard.
You are from UK? So you can go directly to Germany to the one of the famous porsche electronic guy, you have there dyno also.
You will have 550ps and nearly 700Nm.
Cheers,K
