I think Vic put is very well, if budget is not an issue having both is definitely the way to go. I love driving my TT and I love having the choice of either driving my TT or my E63 (I know it's not an M5)....

i just traded in my 2006 M5 for a Mercedes S65. talk about boredom, you will be bored out of your mind with the M5 compared to the 997 Turbo. i understand what you mean regarding exhaust note on the M5, but there are certainly a couple good systems out there for the 997 turbo. check out the switzer system and their upgrade kits if you are bored. i guarantee you that 800+ rwhp will not bore you anymore.

Yes I actually understand what you are talking about.

Sound in a sports car is an important factor to me, and I have yet to hear an aftermarket exhaust that gets me excited like some of the ones out there for M5s.

My current situation: I am thinking of getting an M5 with the awesome Meistershaft exhaust either as a replacement to my Porsche, OR in addition to it.

Has anyone gone from a 997TT to an M5? Of course having both would be great, but owning two cars seems a bit excessive.

From 997 TT to M5 is a downgrade...I moved from mod E55 to mod 997TT...no way I would want to change my dream TT for fast sedan...only as a 2nd car...
