dension bluetooth BTA1500 - Issues.
i'm using an iphone for my bluetooth telephony.... when i recieve a call, i get the caller's name show up on the pcm... however, when i want to dial a number, none of my contacts show up on the pcm phonebook.... anyone know if its possible and/or how to sync (download) contact from phone to pcm over bluetooth?
If you have a ipod without display - not sure how you would do that - I never did figure it out and the manual is clearly wrong.
Hold main + trip buttons
Select phone by rotating right **** and pushing in
The numbers after (Nav Tv 08) describe the version. Unless you got it within the last couple weeks you won't have the latest version. Go to www.navtv.com and follow the download instructions. Good luck.
Iwamas,
I forgot you said you had the dension. I gave you instructions for the Tooki. I'm sure it's listed in the instructions or you might want to send Bumperplugs a PM. He seems to be very helpful. Good luck.

they are - the instructions dont work really. I have never seen the version on the PCM - only an ipod with a display screen. on my ipod touch and iphone doesnt show at all.
another quick question.... everytime i turn my car on i get an error message on the pcm saying phone not found or something to that respect... i take it that's normal... however, when i switch the mode from gateway 500 to cdc... the factory installed car phone is still not being seen... is this normal? or does it have something to do with the dip switches?
also when i pair my iphone, i get the synchronizing phonebook message... but when i go to phone book i only see wxy (22) listed as a contact.... after a while i get a list of contacts but only those starting from w onwards.... the rest of my contacts don't show up... anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?

Been out of town, sorry for any delays in posting. For those of you who have Densions (or Tooki) from us, just email me any specific issues (Ray, we're working on yours), include the firmware version on the GW500, which model/year vehicle and which head unit, and just simply tell us the issue. If it's Bluetooth related, let us know the phone model and service provider. We'll create a ticket for Dension engineering and try to get back to you as fast as possible. Email works best so we can track this for you. Some of the Europeans have been on 'holiday' so there's been a slight lag. We'll see if we can get caught up next week. Thanks. email me anytime: eric@bumperplugs.com Thanks!
I have not experienced either of these issues. I would try a reset and re pair of the phone. I am assuming you are running 2.11 sofware on the dension of course - and 1.1.4 or higher on the iphone. If not, you may want to upgrade to that.
I have a question for you though. Does your signal meter for the phone on the pcm work ? mine does not - never has.

also when i switch off of gateway mode... my built in telephone still doesn;t work... is that normal?
Ray, I had the same problems (weak voice pickup of driver, echo for listener). Perhaps it is the phones--I used a Palm Treo 700P and an iPhone 3G. I think I read at the beginning of this thread that you use the iPhone, too.
I have tried 3 phones. razr, iphone and blackberry. all had the same issues. I personally think its a mike problem - I want to bet that they reduced the sensitivity of the mike to eliminate echo the best they can. But still the echo persists - but now the other party can hardly hear you.
I have had the same problems Ray and others mention -- persistent echo and low/no audio pick up on the BTA mic. I also encounter the message "‘System error: Phone not available" each time I start up. Pressing "OK" clears the error and proceeds with successful BT pairing.
The error message is a minor nuisance that I'd like to eliminate, but can live with. As previously noted, the echo and mic pick up are big problems that make the Bluetooth function essentially useless.
My Dension GW500 and BTA1500 units are installed in the cabin, with the connections running into the glove box.
I'm wondering if unit placement has some bearing on performance. In an effort to solve the problem, I've done several Internet searches and have found an individual on another Porsche enthusiast forum who moved his unit to the front trunk and claims this solved the echo issue. Has anyone else tried this? Does anyone with a front trunk install still have echo issues? It'd be nice to know others' experiences before taking the time to re-install only to discover the problem remains.
Thanks in advance to anyone with any insight.

Your right though - its not good and renders it useless.
It does seem though that some people have fixed it by lowering the volume. But iMO they must have excellent hearing - coz when I do that - I can hardly hear a thing when I am driving.
