997TT telephone...
Just picked up my new Turbo and it's GREAT to be back (had an 07 that I let go for a Ferrari, blah, blah, blah). I have the multi-function wheel option and it got me thinking about the factory phone (or some other unit that would work with PCM). Is this an easy retrofit - meaning getting the factory phone - or are their other options that I should consider that may be less expensive and better? Thanks!

...as usual????
Gee....sorry to offend you with my question. I'm sure I could have found a nicer way to recommend the search option. I honestly did not think of it.

Why the short fuse?
I have the factory phone. Let me count the ways it blows.
1. Reception is horrible. Must be an antenna issue. I have ATT. My car phone does not have reception approx. 50% of time while my iPhone (with ATT) has reception approx. 99% of time in car. Two styrofoam cups and a string is more reliable.
2. Seperate SIM card needed. This means having a different phone number for the car. Forget about removing the SIM card when you exit the car...it's tedious and cumbersome.
3. Saving numbers is more difficult than keeping Amy Winehouse in rehab.
4. Cost. I don't remember the exact $ amount, but anything more than 4.99 is too much for this.
Do yourself a favor...buy a couple of long range walkie talkies and save yourself a couple grand.

Thanks for the helpful response and warning re the factory phone. When I did some archieve searching (see, I learn quickly!), the tooki option seemed to be in favor with a number of folks so I'll give that a look.
The factory phone is terrible. I tried it with 3 different sim cards and different companies. The reception was always terrible with dropped calls. I gave up trying to use it.

I use BlueAnt Supertooth 3. It uses TTS technology (Text to speech). The price is around $100 give or take. You keep your cell phone with you and it automatically uploads your address book. Also announces when your connected and who is calling you so you can accept or reject the call. This is a cheap solution if you don't have the phone module in your TT and don't want to spend $1500 for the upgrade. I'm sure there are fancier units out there but mine works fine for the weekends anyway.
