Whats up guys new to the boards, important question
I currently own a 04 996tt with ecu and exhaust from evoms. bout to let her go, my intensions about a week ago were to find the perfect 997tt and do some extensive mod work (evt 700, suspension, HRE's etc.). Ive recently got a tip from a local dealership that they were getting a 997 GT2 in stock and i have 2 days to commit to it and cuztomize my order or they will move on to another buyer. I guess the main purpose to this post is the question... What would you guys do in my situation?? 200 is a little steep but from what i understand this is a pretty legendary porsche...
Thanks
Andy

If you can get it at MSRP (and can afford the car), I think I would take the GT2. It is far more exclusive and fabulous out of the box. The 997TT is also very good out of the box, but you can easily have $140-150K in the 997TT before you leave the dealership. Your intended mods are going to be over $40K. At that point, you are getting close to GT2 prices. Good luck with your decision.
I can't answer your question without knowing what your driving needs are . Is this a street car or track car? Daily driver or weekend toy?
Lastly -- by the time I got done modding my 997tt it nearly cost as much as an msrp Gt2 (stock) but if I had to drive it in the rain to go to the movies on a Saturday night (I would not be happy taking either) I would stay home rather than take a Gt2 .

Also depends on how many miles you are going to put on the car and what you plan to do it with after you are done. Obviously the GT2 will hold value a lot better than a TT.
I'd say if you do a good amount of track events definitely go for it. If its more of a DD/street car, then its a tough call. But in that case do you really need 700hp on the street? And on the track, the GT2 will outshine the TT in top end power which is where all of the passing is done anyway, so I'd go for a GT2.

What do you want from your car? Staightline power? Track beast?
Where are you in SC? I'm located in Hilton Head.

It may mean a bit more care when it comes to some street use (ie rain) but overall you will have one amazing car.
Congrats.
