997 Turbo Pilot is infamous around these parts
It has Finally Happened

After almost a year of lurking the site and dreaming I placed an order for a 2009 997 Turbo. I have an Oct. build date with a delivery around the 1st or 2nd week of Dec. Looks like I'll be having a GREAT Christmas

Information from this site as well as several test drives has helped the decision process greatly, so thanks to you all. I had to give up something rather special to me to make this happen, but the limited time I have behind the wheel of this awesome car let's me know it will be worth it.

I just recently let go of my of pride and joy 2003 Z06, the car was a multiple best of show winner as well as magazine cover car. It was also intercooled supercharged and wickedly quick

I have just finished the specs sheet and will be taking it to the dealer this afternoon. I know a lot of you will want to know how I've chosen to option it out, but I've been around here long enough to know that posting something like that is an invitation to the Funny Farm or the Poor Farm.

Rest assured that Pics will be abundant come this Dec. For now all I will say is that it will be BLACK!!!

Just wanted to introduce myself, say thanks again and ask just a few simple questions before I go to the dealership.

1) How does Alcantara hold up?, what does it look like after a year or so?
2) Those of you with 20's, how's the ride, there's not a lot of rubber between the road and the rim, and did you purchase the wheel and tire replacement plan that some or all Porsche dealers offer?
3) Those of you with 19's, what's the widest tire that can fit under a stock car? I know the GT2 has 325's. Can you do 345's or even 355's?
4) Can I expect any negotiating room from the MSRP? Best I have been able to determine is that 10% is about the max to expect.

Take care everyone

Congrats ! How exciting! I am not sure if I will ever get a TT cos I can never make up my mind... I am starting to think I just enjoy looking for one. I did asked several dealers about getting 10%, I think they just laugh at me, and did not even offer any counter offer. From what I gather around this forum 2 to 3 %, I think that depends on where you live. I was seriously consider placing an order for an 09, but rumours online(well, exactly) that they might bump the HP to 500 HP next yr... if it is just a HP, I have no problem getting one now, but if there are other changes, that might be a bummer. But this is just from oline, and they been saying that since last year. Enjoy!

Congratulations - now the long wait begins and the days will take forever to pass by. Good luck with getting $$ off the price - I did get some, but not even 3%. Will depend on your dealer, number of allocations they got, market in your area, availability in US, and number of other things. Doesn't hurt to try. Regardless, you will forget about what you paid the minute you drive off the lot and you will be grinning ear to ear.

I only got 2K off but I bought at a time when finding a car was difficult. At that time the Turbo was in demand and now the market is soft enough where I feel you ought to ask for 10 percent and start calling dealerships until you find one who accepts.

I kept the stock tires on my 19 in Hre C20's --no complaints .

Alcantara sure looks great in the showroom but I wonder just as you do how it would hold up . I also wonder how one cleans it . I would opt out of it . It's hard enough maintaining a black car for me than to add Alcatara to it .

Best wishes in advance and welcome aboard.

I wish sales people would say thing like - it is a little slow right now, so it is good time to buy your car. But most often, they will pitch it like it is the best selling car, or it is hard to get one, no matter what the economy is. I understand the concept of making a sell, but I am very put off by such approach. You guys have the same experience?
