clutch problem
I am concerned that the clutch slave cylinder has some type of design defect. My car has 22K miles and the slave cylinder has been replaced twice within the past nine months due to loss of boost (clutch pedal very hard to depress).
It surprises me that you had the problem twice, because the effected parts were, as far as I know, removed from inventory and replaced. I am very familiar with this defect because it effected my car with only 107 km on the odometer, in Germany, during my tourist delivery. My slave was replaced at the factory, but this was before they had isolated the issue and before they addressed it with the part manufacturers (largely due to my experience which got a lot of attention). So, once W-802 was in place, my dealer in the USA replaced my slave cylinder again just to be safe, though there was no problem with it. My car has about 22,000 miles on it now, trouble free miles I should say.
You say your clutch has experienced a 'loss of boost'. The hydraulic clutch system in our cars is not boosted, like our power brakes are. There is no way to loose boost. If your pedal is intermitently hard, then there is a mechanical problem, more likely with the master cylinder. It sounds to me like they changed the wrong part.
I think its BS Porsche waited until the customer complains via part failure vs. sending me a notice I have a bad one and come in for replacement. Sheer luck this happened 3 blocks away from my home.
How are your brakes? The fluid resivior is the shared between the braking system and the clutch hydraulics. Have you bled your brakes? Are your pads real low? If so, this would explain the loss of fluid. Otherwise, there is a leak, it just hasn't been found.
Service guy said they dont have a list of vins with effected parts, I asked when I picked it up.
Brake pads are good, they feel great, no noticeable difference or changes. Never had them bled. No leaks on tiled garage floor or under bonnet or on top of the under panels - tech was scratching his head.

I had the same issue. The fluids just leaked away. When the car was put on a lift, you could see the trace on the undertray. This was when it was brand new. Had it covered under warranty and had no issues since.
You didn't here this from me and please don't quote me, but have been told that the vin range for w802 for cayman s (U.S. models only) is, model 2007 vin 782621-783705 and 2008 vin 780063-780360. There were also some vins for boxers and non U.S. cars (canada etc.) but didn't want to push my luck. I am planing a road trip in three weeks ( approx. 3,000 miles) and wanted to make sure before I went. I'm outside the range by 201 cars. Hope this helps. Pat
