I have an 09 stuck at the Port in Baltimore, I'm hoping to get a discount. I'm interested to see if any others have negotiated or have been promised a discount on an 09????

Nope. MSRP here.

I doubt there will be much discounting on the 2009 997TT. PCNA substantially reduced dealer allocations (especially coupes) and also reduced dealer margins on the 2009's. My dealer is pretty large and only had two 2009 coupes allocated for 2009.

Maybe they are holding them until the West Coast cars are ready to go. I was thinking an Oct 1 delivery seemed reasonable.

Profit on those cars for dealers is down in 09. A $140k car costs the dealer $125k. Plus the hold back which varies between $700 and $1200 per car based on dealer. They made more on the cars in 08. I would guess that if you get $2k or $3k, it might be a miracle, because other people will buy it right out from under you.

ok-i can tell you that you can get a discount, but it is tough. a lot of the dealers are holding to list-i agree that the lack of coupes does not help a buyer. i would bet a discount of significant proportions on a cab would not be a problem, especially on left over 08 turbo cabs, as there are quite a bit of unsold cars around. a few dealers will give discounts on 09 coupes-if they find a live buyer who has credit, i think that a few dealers have figured out that it is better to make a bunch of money now rather than even more money is several months. just look, be patient, check their inventory online, call, and still be patient.

Luxary car sales have dropped significantly. So much infact, that several auto makers are offering 0% Financing as well as up to $6,000 cash back. That's paying $54,000 for a $60,000 car and you don't even have to pay interest!!! Now I realize that Porsche is a little different than say BMW, Land Rover or any of the other companies that are offering HUGE incentives, but those are indicators of what the future may hold. If similar actions are taken to sell Porsches, it'll probably be in the lesser form of the lesser models such as Boxsters, Caymans and Carerra's rather than the Turbo, GT3 or GT2 cars as those are super high end cars that are affected less by the economy than the other models. My advice would be to find a great deal on a left over '08 unless there is a reason why you have to have an '09 in which case I'd listen to what DocJackson said and be patient and proactive making lots of calls and showing your face in the dealers office often to let them know that you're serious if the price is right.

I guess I should add that my data point (MSRP - 2009 coupe) was agreed upon back in April, so the market may have shifted a bit since that time. My dealer allowed me to reserve their last 2008 in case the 2009's had unwanted changes and has otherwise been extraordinarily accommodating.

Is it possible that I could hammer them down on the price a bit now? Probably, but I won't because I know they would not raise their prices if people were waiting in line to buy my car.

just out of curiousity.....if you order a Turbo, can't you go a few thousand over invoice instead of talking down from MSRP? I mean, they don't have to sell you the car, they just have to do the paperwork
