997 TT Cab Tourist Delivery

Just returned from a great trip to "pick up" our new turbo. For those not familiar with this, you really don't pick up your car, you borrow it for a pewriod of time before it gets shipped back to the US (now I get to wait 6-10 weeks for the car we had a blast with).

Here's a brief summary and a few pics (if my posting works).

We arrived in Stuttgart last Sunday, stayed at the Schlossgarten Hotel
here's the schloss <table style="width: auto;"><tbody><tr><td></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family: arial,sans-serif; font-size: 11px; text-align: right;"><table style="width: auto;"><tbody><tr><td></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family: arial,sans-serif; font-size: 11px; text-align: right;">From Porsche Tourist Delivery</td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table>

It was Sunday so we went off to the MB museum. Fantastic museum. Not just a great history of MB cars, but also German industry as well. Far too many amazing cars to show. Here's a sample.

The next day it was off to Porsche. We were shown our car,
<table style="width: auto;"><tbody><tr><td></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family: arial,sans-serif; font-size: 11px; text-align: right;">From Porsche Tourist Delivery</td></tr></tbody></table>

Had a tour of the factory, a great lunch, saw about 20 cars in the "museum", and then left in our car for our adventure.

We started with a drive with the top down through the black forest. Just beautiful. Stopped at Baden-Baden, and stayed at the absolutely fantastic Brenner Park Hotel. View from our window.

Next morning we headed off to the Schlumpf collection museum in Mulhouse France. Great story, and fantastic museum with the largest collection of Bugattis.

We spent the morning in Lindau, and then headed off into the alps. Again still we had perfect top down weather.

visited Dachau, and then headed to Nurmberg, a very historic and fascinating city.

Here you can see the wall that surrounds most of the city.

Stayed at the Meridian, was also very nice.

We spent two nights in Nurmberg, and also visited the Dokumentation Museum. Tells the history of Hitler came to power, and is situated on the old **** Rally grounds.

After Numberg, we went to Erfurt to visit a close friend.
A great old city that has really come about since reunification.

Then on Sunday we headed back to Stuttgart and returned the car. We flew home Monday AM. 1800 km in total. Cruised routinely on the autobahn at 125-150. Blasted through the curves in the black forest, alps, etc, but had to respect the 4200 rpm break in for the first 1600km.

Car is amazing. Much more responsive, and faster than my M5. Very refined. Actually has more room for me than the M5. Wife and I really enjoyed the trip, and are thrilled with the car. Got almost 21 mpg for the week as well!!

Now I'm jet lagged, trying to catch up at work, and wondering how I am going to wait for my car to be returned to me.

Highly recommend the experience. If anybody has questions about doing the euro delivery....Do it.

Thanks for sharing. Congratulations on your beautiful new cab. You brought back memories of the most fun and wonderful trip of my life last fall. We took a week long trip with a motocade of 25 Porsches through 5 countries and 14 mountain passes. Wen to some of the same stops as you did. Had the time of my life. I drove a Porsche C4S that belonged to Porsche (not my own) and drove 171 mph on the autobahn for over 30 miles (on video!). It was an unbelievable experience - although roaring up and down mountain passes over there was even more fun. We did 6 in one day! Anyway, thanks for the memories. I have a deposit to go do it again next September and includes a 3 day trip on the Nurburgring. :-)
