Short Shifter OEM vs B&M

I'd like to install a short shifter but contemplating a few things: 1) What's the difference between an OEM and B&M short shifter (besider a few hundred $$) 2) Dealer won't install aftermarkets 3) If B&M, then how does that impact factory warranty on related components 4) is it worth paying the extra $$ to preserve factory warrant on a short shifter install? The car is an 08 turbo so many years and miles left to go. Thanks in advance for any advice.

To avoid warranty concerns I'd honestly just go with the factory one. Drops right in and was designed for it. The B&M one was designed for the 996 and has to be retro-fitted. Doesn't feel as good either IMHO in the 997 as it does/did in the 996.

I'd go OEM the B&M is just way too stiff.

Oh hey my pleasure.. anytime. One thing you might also be able to do is visit the dealership closest to you (or where you got the car from) and see if they don't mind you at least sitting in a car and trying an SSK-equipped one out. Just so you see if you like it.

I got B&M for the 997S and OEM short shifter for the TT and I think the OEM is stiffer but I like it more . both way way better than the regular shifter

I had the dealer install my B&M, they said there will be no problem of warranty.

The tech thought the final product was higher quality then the Porsche OM

I have a OEM short shifter complete ready to install with base for easy installation.
I paid $500 from dealership (have receipt) will take $250 + shipping.

Is my understanding that B&M manufacture the OEM short shifter for Porsche. The craftmanship, materials, and quality should be the same. Proper adjustment is important in both.

B&M may make them for Porsche.....but the one you buy from B&M is metal. The Porsche factory one is plastic. With teh B&M you have to install teh lever in the existing shift gate. With teh Porsche short shift you get a whole new shify gate.
