Clutch Problem on Cold Starts

Looks like something is up with my clutch. Got into the drive way, push the clutch to start and the pedal barely moves. I have to apply a huge amount of force to get it all the way down and start the car. I pumped it a few times and drove and it felt fine.

Before that I thought I felt the clutch not engaging when I was pulling the car out of the driveway when it was sitting for a while, but I always thought that was just my impression.

Then last week after driving about 5 lights Im sitting at a red, turns green, I start releasing the clutch and giving gas car doesnt move at all. I nearly release the clutch all the way and it doesnt even budge an inch. I press it down, put it in nuetral, pump it a few times and drive.

I had a "clutch line leak" when I frst got the car after about 2-3 months, and I really dont think my dealership did a good job, could this be related?

How serious is this? Should I bring my car in for service immediately?

PS. keep forgetting to check for any leaked fluids but will try tomorrow morning.

I'll take a look at it when I pull the car out of the garage, anything in particular I should be looking for or will the problem be apparent if thats what it is?

Take a look in the front passenger side (pull the plastic panel off) and see if there's evidence of fluid/weeping etc....

Never met Alex yet continue to be a fan because of his always helpful suggestions; it's a good thing I don't live close to him or I'll probably be a bit poorer with the toys he offers. Anyway, the clutch slave cylinder has failed on a few 997 Turbo's -- seemingly more than any other component. I posted my problem here:

Looked fine from my rudimentary inspection, I guess its time to make a service appointment and have them fiddle with it.

Wow, I didn’t think I would see this starting around again so soon. The slave or the accumulator is bad. I have heard of a few already but didn’t think it would be as bad as the 996TT as they changed them. Have the dealer fix it. They probably will put a whole new slave in it and been done. The bladder in the accumulator has failed or the two way check valve in the slave has given way and allowing the pressure to equalize rather than holding. The system is all power assist like your brakes. Much more elaborate but same concept

I had similar symptons and it turned out to be a bad slave which was replaced by the dealer. The pedal was very hard to press down in the morning a few times, then the pedal won't come all the way back up. Eventually the pedal went straight to the floor when I apply any pressure to it, car had to go to the dealer on a flatbed.

I guess I should wait till after the new year to make my service appointment otherwise I know it wont be worked on. I think it should hold out fine till then.

Can't wait to get the car out of the garage and drive through this snow to see how good the Pirelli snows handle this weather.
