My new 997TT

I'm new to 6speed and wanted to get some input/advice on some items.
What do you guys think of 20" Techart II GT's vs HRE P43's? Also, what do you think of the WERKS airbox. I found a used one and it's looks cool but is it worth it. What kind of radar dectector do you recommend, Valentine 1 or K40?

Thanks.

Welcome to 6Speed!!! For radar, here is my suggestion:

I am also a big fan of HRE and Forgeline so I got you covered there on top of TechArt.

Brian

The other items I can help you with once you figure out what you want.

Take it from me because I know all to well, you better get some detector that has laser jammers. It is the direction that law enforcement is heading. Regular radar is only going to be used in small towns with small budgets.

Thanks for the advice. I think I like the look of the HRE's better.

Welcome to 6 speed. You will find many useful tips and opinions from members here. Do lots of research before you pull the trigger on anything. Having said that, here is my opnion.

Wheels: I would choose HRE over the Techart II. HRE is forged and lighter. Techart is cast, heavier, and an outdated design. 360 Forged has some really nice wheels also.

Werks Airbox: I think this is really a preference. It's been debated many times as to whether an upgraded intake system and airbox really improves performance or not.

Radar: V1 all the way.

Don't forget to upgrade your exhaust, headers, ECU, and suspension! Happy modding.

Champion > HRE > Techart imo.

I got the V1 no complaints.

Get the Werks1 only if you are looking for looks. Personally I would go for an exhaust instead, more sound and performance you will definitely feel.

Welcome to 6! For wheels, P43 over TA. The werks 1 intake may not add any HP and I don't think its worth $4K+ . But the use one is going for $1.5K, personally it worth just for the look!

Thanks for all the input. I agree I like the HRE's I also like the 360 Forge carbon fiber rims. As for the air intake, I think I can pick it up for 1000-1200.

Also, I agree on the V1, I also like the K40 because it is built in and has a jammer.

I run the M40 Blinder Laser Jammers and then the Valentine 1. I have run that radar detector since 2003 and it works great. Done 5 cross country road rallies with it P43 Wheels I am a fan. Got them on my own

TechArt wheels are nice, but heavier. Rotational weight will bog the car down in acceleration. If you are going to get TechArt, the III are the way to go as they are a 1pc forged and lightweight.

Formula 1 and Formula III Wheels

For the airbox, the Werks is a piece of art, but power not sure about. Welcome and congrats!

The TechArt Formula I is a 1 piece cast wheel like you see on the silver car above. Great looking wheel but heavy. The Formula II wheel is not that common and I think that wheel missed the boat. It is a multipiece wheel (3pc or 2pc??) and has a lip to it. I think they got it right with the Formula III doing the 1piece forged.
